Unlocking Potential: The DJI Inspire 3 Camera Upgrade Buzz

A wave of intrigue has swept across the DJI Inspire 3 Owners Group on Facebook, after member J. Hoffman revealed images hinting at the potential for modification of the DJI X9 Air camera. Hoffman’s images show a straightforward dismounting of the DL-mount on the camera, sparking speculation about possible upgrades or interchangeability. Hoffman’s explorative photos indicate ample space within the camera unit.

He puts forth a compelling proposition, suggesting that, “An electronic Vario ND filter could be possible when you replace it with the OLPF from the sensor, and the communication could be done via the pogo pins like it is done on the new electronic Vario ND filter from RED.” Further adding, “On the back from the camera is a good amount of space for a counter weight.”

The idea of an improved camera sent ripples of excitement through the group. One enthusiast responded eagerly, “That’s awesome, man. Thanks for the info and the efforts. It’s gonna be needed because, sadly, I’ve seen some pretty bad aliasing out of this camera already, so will likely need the OLPF.”

While another person chimed in, praising the design, “Just looking at the back panel photo now. That looks like it’s BUILT for counterweights!”

However, there’s another possibility: DJI might introduce an official upgrade, a strategic move allowing them to monetize the latest advancements. The drone and camera maker might offer improved functionality for a premium, ensuring the drone enthusiasts get access to cutting-edge technology, albeit at a cost.
