In a harrowing home invasion in Bel Air, Harford County, Maryland, Mike Clark’s swift actions saved his partner’s life, while the deployment of a drone led to the capture of the suspect, Joshua Brewster, 31, of North East.

The Incident

The pre-dawn attack on Wednesday left Clark’s partner, a woman he has shared a home with for 20 years, with a gunshot wound. Clark recounted the terrifying moment when he found the masked assailant holding a gun to his partner’s head, threatening to kill her if she screamed.

“By the time I realized there was a gun to her head and what was going on, I just busted through the door and attacked. I wasn’t thinking, I was reacting,” Clark reportedly said.

The Confrontation

As Clark confronted the intruder, shots were fired. “When he went out the door, all I could see was those flames coming out of his gun, and I don’t know how I’m still here,” Clark said.

Miraculously, the bullet appeared to have ricocheted, grazing his partner and leaving her with a 5-inch wound.

The Drone and the Arrest

Witnesses reported seeing a man dressed in black fleeing behind a convenience store. Harford County Sheriff Jeff Gahler revealed that a deputy responding to the call, who also happened to be a drone operator, immediately deployed a drone with night-vision capabilities. The drone successfully directed deputies to the suspect, leading to Brewster’s safe apprehension.

While Clark’s partner is expected to recover, the family remains traumatized by the incident. Authorities believe Brewster, who has an extensive criminal history, may have been involved in another break-in in the same neighborhood just hours earlier. As Brewster remains jailed without bond, the community is left to grapple with the aftermath of this terrifying ordeal, finding solace in the bravery of individuals like Mike Clark and the innovative use of technology in law enforcement.
