Compact Size and Innovative Features

The DJI Neo is reported to measure 15.7 x 13 x 4.9 cm (approximately 6.2 x 5.1 x 1.9 inches), making it about the size of “five stacked CD-ROM cases”. This compact design suggests the drone may be suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.

Advanced QuickShots and Flight Modes

One of the most intriguing features is the addition of a dedicated QuickShots selection button on the drone itself. This allows users to cycle through various intelligent flight modes without needing to access the DJI Fly App, potentially streamlining the user experience.

The DJI Neo is set to include several popular intelligent flight modes and QuickShots, including:

  • ActiveTrack: Where the drone follows the subject
  • Dronie: Flies backward and upward for dramatic reveal shots
  • Rocket: Ascends straight up with the camera pointing down
  • Circle: Orbits the subject for a smooth, cinematic effect
  • Boomerang: Flies in an oval pattern, zooming out and back in
  • Asteroid: Combines an aerial shot with a panoramic view for a “tiny planet” effect

Notably absent from the list is the Helix mode, which is available on other DJI models. It’s unclear whether this mode will be added in future updates, might be available in the DJI Fly app, or if it has been intentionally omitted.

Unique Design Elements

The DJI Neo features ducted propellers, similar to those found on Cinewhoop drones. This design typically offers improved safety and performance in indoor environments. Additionally, the propeller guards appear to be removable, adding to the drone’s versatility.

“Some webshop in Mexico didn’t hide the #djineo properly,” Ellens noted in his leak, hinting at the possibility of more details emerging in the coming weeks.

DroneXL’s Take

The DJI Neo’s compact size and innovative features position it as a versatile option for both casual and professional drone users. The addition of a QuickShots selection button on the drone itself could be a game-changer, making it easier than ever to capture stunning footage on the fly.
