DEXA Secures Game-Changing BVLOS Waiver for Drone Delivery Operations

Amazon Drone Deals: DJI Neo 3 batteries $229 Skyrover S1 $269, and the Skyrover X1 $539

DEXA (Drone Express) just hit a major milestone in the drone delivery world. They’ve snagged a crucial FAA Part 107 BVLOS waiver in Winston-Salem, NC, setting them up to dramatically expand their delivery capabilities, according to a press release from the company.

What This Means for Drone Deliveries

The Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) waiver’s a big deal – it lets DEXA’s delivery drones fly further than what pilots can see directly. That’s huge for scaling up operations and reaching more customers. Instead of being limited by the pilot’s visual range, these drones can now handle longer-distance deliveries.

“This approval marks a significant milestone in advancing safe and scalable drone deliveries,” says Beth Flippo, DEXA’s CEO. She’s clearly stoked about what this means for their expansion plans.

DEXA’s Growing Footprint

Founded in 2021, DEXA isn’t just another drone startup. They’ve locked down some serious partnerships with big names like Kroger, Papa John’s, and Winsupply. They’re also in the running for the Part 135 Unmanned Domestic Air Carrier Certification – pretty exclusive company, as only a handful of operators in the US will be certified for BVLOS deliveries.

DroneXL’s Take

The BVLOS approval landscape is evolving rapidly, and DEXA’s waiver is a perfect example of how the drone delivery sector is maturing. This development follows the growing trend we’re seeing in the delivery-by-drone space, where companies are pushing beyond the initial limitations of visual line of sight operations. As more companies secure these crucial waivers, we’re getting closer to seeing widespread commercial drone delivery become a reality.
