DJI Flip Drone Leaked: Swiss Retailer Reveals New Sub-250g Drone with AI Tracking

A Swiss online retailer has accidentally published details about DJI’s upcoming Flip drone, revealing key specifications and pricing information ahead of its official launch. The leak, first reported by Jasper Ellens and further detailed by Igor Bogdanov, suggests that DJI is preparing to introduce an innovative new drone that weighs under 250 grams and features advanced AI tracking capabilities.

Key Specifications and Features

The DJI Flip Fly More Combo RC 2, as revealed in the leaked listings, incorporates a Mini 4 Pro camera system with a 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor capable of capturing 4K/60FPS HDR video. The drone features full-surface propeller protection and utilizes DJI’s AI-powered object tracking technology for optimal viewing angles during flight.

It appears that the DJI Flip drone also features the LiDAR sensor array and thus the object sensing and avoidance capabilities as we have seen on the DJI Air 3S.

Perhaps most notably, the drone weighs in at just under 249 grams, placing it in the same sub-250g category as DJI’s popular Mini series. This strategic weight limit allows operators in many jurisdictions to fly without registration requirements for recreational use.

Battery System and Flight Time

New technical details reveal that the Flip uses a sophisticated battery system with impressive specifications. According to Bogdanov, the drone’s battery features:

  • 3110 mAh capacity
  • 7.16V voltage
  • Hard case design
  • Weight of 83.5 grams
  • Maximum flight time of 31 minutes per charge

The Fly More combo package includes multiple batteries and a charging hub, suggesting DJI is targeting extended flight sessions for professional and enthusiast users alike.

Design and Innovation

Images from the leaked listings showcase a distinctive design featuring fully protected propellers within circular guards. This approach appears to prioritize safety while potentially offering new flight capabilities. The drone’s comprehensive package includes the RC 2 controller, multiple batteries, spare propellers, and a charging system.

Pricing and Availability

The Fly More RC2 combo package is listed at 779 Swiss Francs (approximately $895 USD), positioning it in the mid-range consumer drone segment. The leak indicates a launch window approximately three weeks from now, though DJI has not officially confirmed any details about the Flip drone.
