Drone Show to Light Up Chula Vista with 500 Drones and Live Classical Music
After sold-out performances around the world, the DroneArt Show is coming to Chula Vista, bringing a night of light, music, and pure wonder, as NBC San Diego told us. On November 21 and 22, the skies above the Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center will turn into a stage for a 65-minute open-air concert featuring more than 500 illuminated drones performing to live renditions of The Four Seasons and Swan Lake.
Organizers are calling it the longest drone show ever staged, and with over an hour of synchronized flight, that title sounds well earned. As night falls, hundreds of glowing drones will rise into the sky to form stunning shapes and patterns, all timed perfectly to the classical music below.
A Concert in the Sky
Forget everything you know about concerts. This one replaces rock guitars with propellers. As the live orchestra plays, the drones will dance in the air, creating flowers, stars, and galaxies of light. The show has toured cities across the globe, leaving audiences speechless, and now it’s finally San Diego’s turn.
It’s an all-ages event that mixes art and technology in a way that feels both modern and magical. Whether you’re a music lover, a drone geek, or just someone who enjoys a good spectacle, this one is hard to resist.
Details and Tips
And for those (like me) that doesn’t believe the duration of the show, here it is a 52 minute video of a fan going to the show. Just in case you couldn’t get a ticket or didn’t live at Chula Vista
The show starts at 7 p.m. and lasts for about 65 minutes. Gates open two hours earlier, giving visitors time to grab dinner from food trucks, watch the sunset, and find the best viewing spots. It’s an outdoor nighttime event, so bring warm clothes and a blanket if you plan to sit in the grass. The venue is ADA compliant, so everyone can enjoy the show comfortably.
Now, about the tickets. The picnic area costs $39.90, while the seated section runs around $65. The VIP seats, which sold for about $85, are already gone. Yes, that’s a bit pricey for staring at the sky, but 65 minutes of high-tech ballet with a live orchestra is not your average Saturday night. At least you’ll be watching 500 flying performers who don’t need bathroom breaks.
DroneXL’s Take
This one sounds like something special. A full hour of choreographed drone art set to classical music is no small feat, and DroneArt has already proven its skill on the world stage. It’s rare to see technology and tradition blend so beautifully, and even rarer to see it last longer than most movies. Sure, the tickets might sting a little, but when the first wave of glowing drones takes flight, you’ll probably forget what you paid. If you’re anywhere near Chula Vista next week, look up. This will be one of those nights that make you glad drones exist.

Compared to the Chinese drone shows this is a freaking joke and a disgrace.
