Chevy Lights Up Piedmont Park With 1,000 Holiday Drones
Chevrolet is bringing a massive holiday light show to Atlanta next week with one thousand drones set to rise above Piedmont Park, as Secret Atlanta reported. The show is part of the Chevy Holiday Magic tour, a country wide event traveling from San Diego to Detroit with stops in Dallas, Nashville and Atlanta. The caravan is powered by Silverado EV trucks that are being used to showcase long range travel, fast charging and mobile power during the trip.
Atlanta is one of only five cities chosen for this year’s tour, which makes the Piedmont Park show a special treat for locals. The drones will form bright holiday shapes and animations that can be seen across the park and even from nearby neighborhoods if the sky is clear.
What Visitors Can Expect At The Event
Chevy is creating a full holiday experience around the drone show. Families can enjoy warm s’mores, hot cocoa and fresh baked cookies around a fire setup. Kids will have face painting available and the area will be filled with music and festive decorations. The drones are the main highlight of the evening. One thousand aircraft will lift into the sky and create moving scenes, symbols and colors that celebrate the season.
The event will take place at The Promenade inside Piedmont Park on December 9. The show is expected to begin around 6 in the evening and continue until about 7:30. Arriving early is recommended since the area will be busy and the best viewing spots tend to fill up fast.
How To Attend And Where To Park
The event is free and open to the public. Chevrolet is also providing complimentary parking at the Piedmont Park Public Car Park North: the address is 1301 Monroe Drive NE in Atlanta. Visitors can walk from the garage straight into the park and follow the signs to The Promenade.
Anyone who lives near the park may not even need to attend to see some of the action. The drones are bright and will be visible from several blocks away, especially during the higher scenes in the show.
DroneXL’s Take
Holiday drone shows keep growing every year in the United States and events like this help bring the tech to a wider audience. A fleet of one thousand aircraft is still a rare sight and Piedmont Park will offer a great open space for a clear view. This should be one of the more impressive public drone displays of the season.
