DJI Power 1000 Mini launches in China

After weeks of leaks and speculation, DJI has launched the DJI Power 1000 Mini in China, introducing several nice to have features that help it compete more directly with rival products.

DJI Power 1000 Mini launches

The DJI Power 1000 Mini comes packed with a smaller form factor, as the name suggests, and retractable 100w USB-C cable that can be replaced, a light bar, and the usual variety of power ports found on all of DJI’s Power line up of power stations.

DJI’s new power station weighs 11.5 kg (25.35 lb) compared to the Power 1000 V2’s 14.2kg (31.31 lb) and is smaller in all three dimensions. The Mini measures in at 314 mm (12.36 in) x 212 mm (8.35 in) x 216 mm (8.5 in), while the 1000 V2 comes in at 448 mm (17.64 in) x 225 mm (8.86 in) x 230 mm (9.05 in).

Moving to the front of the power station, you’ll find a telemetry display, standard AC power outlets, dual USB-A ports, a USB-C port, DJI’s proprietary SDC port for fast drone charging, and the main charging input. As with previous models, the SDC port also supports solar panel input and high-power car charging.

A new addition is the integrated LED light bar, which offers both a steady mode and an SOS mode for emergency use. The most interesting new feature is the built-in retractable USB-C cable. Delivering up to 100W of power, it effectively adds a second USB-C charging option. Notably, the cable is user-replaceable, meaning you won’t be stuck with a non-retracting cord after extended use.

To help with the reduction in size, DJI made several compromises in output and capacity. The Power 1000 Mini features a 1008Wh battery, slightly smaller than the 1024Wh battery found in the Power 1000 V2. Maximum output is limited to 1000W, with a sustained load of 800W, compared to the V2’s 2600W continuous output. USB-C output is also capped at 100W, down from 140W on the larger model.

There is currently no estimation of a release date outside of China. The standalone unit comes in at ¥2099, on sale from ¥2499, which is about US$300. For reference the 1000 V2 is ¥2599(~US$375), on sale from ¥3499 (~US$500).

DroneXL’s take

In our view, the DJI Power 1000 Mini feels more like an upgraded Power 500 with the capacity of a Power 1000. While its output numbers are significantly lower than its larger sibling, it caters to a broader, more general audience.

If you’re looking for something compact with a large battery for camping, charging drones and gear on the go, road trips, or even as backup power for essential home devices, the DJI Power 1000 Mini is a compelling option.
