DJI is gearing up for yet another product launch this month, this time, something that looks like a major evolution of its smartphone gimbal lineup.
A newly released teaser hints at what could be the DJI Osmo Mobile 9, and it may introduce one of the biggest design changes weโve seen in the series so far, a removable display and remote controller module.
Thereโs just one catch, this appears to be a China only release for now.
DJI Osmo Mobile 9….Incoming?
DJI quietly shared a teaser on its Chinese online store with the roughly translated title โJumping on the Handโ. While the name itself is a bit cryptic, the visuals tell a much clearer story.
The short teaser video shows the front of what appears to be the DJI Osmo Mobile 9, with the notable details including:
- A status light
- A set of six pogo pins on the front of the gimbal
As the video progresses, a detachable screen and controller module flies into frame and snaps onto the device using those pogo pins. Moments later, a hand grabs the controller, suggesting fully remote operation, before the word OSMO flashes on screen.
Launch Date Confirmed
Unlike many early teasers, DJI isnโt making us wait long. The official launch is scheduled for April 21, 2026, which is tomorrow. That leaves very little time for speculation before we see the full picture.
Expected Features
While DJI hasnโt confirmed specs yet, we can make some educated guesses based on the teaser and previous models.
Hereโs what we expect from the DJI Osmo Mobile 9:
- Core features carried over from the Osmo Mobile 8
- New detachable display and remote controller
Likely enabling:- Remote framing and shooting
- Solo content creation without needing a second person
- Improved battery life, potentially to support the new module
- Possible software enhancements tied to remote operation

This feels like a natural and smart next step for the Osmo Mobile series.
DJI has been steadily refining the lineup with each generation, previously with the tracking module, but this is the first time weโre seeing a feature that genuinely changes how the product is used, not just how it performs.
Weโll be standing by for the official launch tomorrow and are eager to see it roll out globally, hopefully sooner rather than later.
