New Parrot Anafi may arrive as soon as June 30th, 2020

The new Parrot Anafi may arrive as soon as June 30th, 2020 according to this announcement. The original Anafi was launched in in the summer of 2018, so yeah it is about time that we saw an update. However, this drone is quite different from what we have seen before from the French drone maker, Parrot.

New Parrot Anafi may arrive early this summer

The announcement play right into the distrust that parts of the government have towards Chinese made drones such as the ones from DJI. It reads:

DON’T IN CHINESE DRONES

All in capital letters. Below that, you see three lenses that seem to be identical to the wide-angle lens, tele lens, and FLIR thermal lens that we have seen in this photo.

New Parrot Anafi

The new Parrot Anafi provides up to 32x optical zoom with thermal capabilities which is really quite amazing. The technology used seems to be similar to what we see on the most recent iPhones, where two lenses are merged by software to provide an extended optical zoom capability. Especially when you combine that feature with a thermal sensor you have quite an astonishing drone for search and rescue operations, for instance.

Recently we reported that this new Parrot Anafi will arrive in two versions. One version will be for the military, called the Anafi SRR (short-range reconnaissance) and one version for civilian purposes and might be called the UA or USA.

The new Anafi drone will be made in the United States, according to information that we have received.

Going back to the announcement, it also states,

Save the date to see the drone you can trust. June 30, 2020 // 4 pm CEST.

Be sure to mark your calendars!
