Litchi will likely be available for Mavic Mini and Mavic Air 2 later this summer
Good News for people who like to use the Litchi app to fly their DJI drones. The software development kit (SDK) is scheduled to be released in July, which will likely mean that Litchi will become available for DJI Mavic Mini and DJI Mavic Air 2 pilots later this summer.
Litchi app for the DJI Mavic Mini and Mavic Air 2
The DJI Fly App is stripped down in many ways compared to the DJI Go 4 App. In some ways this is good, but in other ways, you're missing important features. For instance, the DJI Fly app does not allow you to use waypoints to fly your Mavic Mini or Mavic Air 2. Once Litchi becomes available for these drones, we assume that the Litchi waypoints feature will be available as well.
Rob Schwartz from Thunder Drones who shared this news on Facebook did warn people about the DJI warranty. In a post he said:
The downside of using a third-party app like Litchi is that if you crash, DJI can decline warranty coverage if they determine that you were using Litchi at the time of the crash. Well, that never stopped me from using Litchi since DJI frequently denies warranty claims even if you are using DJI Fly or DJI Go 4, even if it was the drone's fault.
With the SDK for the DJI Fly app expected to become available in July, the Litchi app should be available a month or two later. Be sure to follow DroneXL as we will let you know the moment it's here.

Thanks for the information. Does litchi use its own active tracking logic or is it possible that DJI will say “no” to such a function for its cheapest drone to separate it from the air 2 for example?
Litchi needs the SDK to be updated for that particular drone so that it can work with their app. Mini is in beta testing now. MA2 should be available in a matter of weeks/months depending on when DJI updates the SDK for that drone. See also here: https://dronexl.co/2020/08/07/litchi-for-mavic-mini-mavic-air-2/
