Drones with thermal cameras are an effective tool in the prosecution of illegal cannabis farmers. This video below from the Lincolnshire shows thermal footage that successfully used to prosecute the operator of an illegal cannabis farm. Especially when you compare the roof of the farm to the roof of the building next door the heat generated by the special lamps becomes clearly visible.

The footage was used to obtain a warrant. Inside the building cannabis plants were discovered with a value of £50,000. The operator of the illegal cannabis farm received a three-year sentence.

In a tweet the Lincolnshire Police said:

Over the past month the team has played a vital role in identifying & securing evidence for warrants of several large scale cannabis farms. Updates when we can, but for now here’s a look back at our first successful prosecution.

The local police used the same method to discover several other cannabis farms in Lincolnshire, England.
