DJI Airworks started today with drone industry speakers and live demos

For two years, we have not had an in-person event, but this year it's back. started today with a three-day event aimed at commercial and enterprise drones and drone solutions.

DJI shows drone-in-a-box at DJI Airworks

Today, we had a welcome session for the media, a few break-out sessions, and a demo of the DJI Matrice 30 and the new DJI drone-in-a-box solution. It took a minute for the M30 to take off, as you can see in the video below.

DJI employees informed us that the strip in Las Vegas is a tough place to get sufficient satellite connections for a safe drone flight.

DJI also made sure to get the necessary permissions in place to fly in downtown Las Vegas, something that is otherwise not allowed. Remember that DJI Phantom 4 that drifted and landed at McCarran a few years ago? Exactly, that is why.

Don't expect the drone-in-a-box concept to take off any time soon, at least here in the U.S., as we lack the proper (beyond-visual-line-of-sight) drone regulations to allow for these kinds of operations as Brendan Schulman pointed out.

Tomorrow and Wednesday are fully booked with breakout sessions, keynotes, and demos, so stay tuned as we will be bringing you regular updates on this year's DJI Airworks.
