Busted: Audacious Drone Contraband Plot Thwarted
A Summerville man was apprehended on April 29 after allegedly attempting to smuggle Contraband into Lee Correctional Institution using a drone. Joshua B. Jordan, 31, now faces charges of furnishing contraband to a prisoner.
Authorities report that Jordan tried to deliver tobacco to the prison yard via drone. At the time of his arrest, he was already out on bond for two previous incidents.
In one case, Jordan was accused of trafficking cocaine and supplying contraband to inmates at Lieber Correctional Institution through drone drops in 2022. The other incident involved second-degree arson, where he allegedly set fire to a Lieber contraband officer's home in March 2022.
The Lee County Sheriff's Office and the South Carolina Department of Corrections are reportedly jointly investigating the recent incident.
