Excitement is building in the mountain city of Woodland Park as they gear up to reintroduce their highly anticipated drone show, part of the 2023, 4th of July festivities.
The event, humorously named ‘Symphony Above the Clouds,’ is set for July 5 at the local middle school, with doors welcoming attendees from 5:30 p.m. onward.
The event will kick off with the Woodland Park Wind Symphony, filling the air with popular tunes, including Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture, complete with cannons, and a selection from Star Wars. As daylight fades, a synchronized drone light show will illuminate the sky.
Flying at one of the world’s highest altitudes, this drone show is no small feat. Factors such as reduced air pressure, colder temperatures, and stronger winds add an extra layer of challenge. Nevertheless, the spectacle is set to be impressive.
Spectators are advised to come prepared with chairs and a blanket for a picnic dinner. Concessions will also be available on-site, and a crowd of thousands is anticipated.
Drone shows, involving synchronized, lit-up drones, have surged in popularity recently, especially in the American West. Their appeal is amplified by the reduced risk of wildfires, a compelling alternative to traditional 4th of July firework displays.
This event promises to be a standout celebration and testament to innovative, safe, visually stunning entertainment.
