Mayor Oleksandr Symchyshyn Announces Drone Delivery on Facebook

Oleksandr Symchyshyn, the mayor of Khmelnytskyi, Ukraine, announced that the city has delivered 10 DJI Mavic 3T drones equipped with thermal imaging cameras to Ukrainian soldiers. The drones, which cost nearly 1.8 million Ukrainian hryvnias (approximately $48,600 USD), were purchased using funds from the city budget, Ukrinform reports..

Nearly 300 Drones Delivered to Soldiers Since Beginning of Year

According to Symchyshyn, this latest delivery is part of an ongoing effort to support the Ukrainian Defense Forces. He noted that since the beginning of the year, Khmelnytskyi has handed over almost 300 drones of various types to the soldiers.

Previous Drone Deliveries Include Thermal Imaging Models

This is not the first time Khmelnytskyi has provided drones with thermal imaging capabilities to the military. In May, the city community budget was used to purchase and transfer drones with thermal imagers worth more than 2.5 million Ukrainian hryvnias (approximately $67,500 USD) to the soldiers.

DroneXL’s Take

The delivery of these DJI Mavic 3T drones with thermal imaging capabilities is a significant contribution to the Ukrainian Defense Forces. Drones have proven to be invaluable assets in modern warfare, providing real-time intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance capabilities. The thermal imaging cameras on these drones will allow Ukrainian soldiers to detect heat signatures, making it easier to locate enemy personnel and equipment, even in low-visibility conditions.

Khmelnytskyi’s ongoing support for the military, through the purchase and delivery of drones, demonstrates the city’s commitment to the defense of Ukraine. As the conflict continues, it is likely that more cities and communities will follow Khmelnytskyi’s example, providing the Ukrainian Defense Forces with the tools and technology they need to protect the nation’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
