EXCLUSIVE: DJI Mini 5 Pro Release Date And Leaked Pictures Spotted

After we learned DJI is going to release the Osmo 360, Nano and Mic 3 in July. Last week a little bird also told me the release date of the DJI Mini 5 Pro. I have tried to double check this date, but did not succeed in doing so. But, because said bird is always been my well informed source – that has never been wrong before- I am going to spill the tea anyway:

Surprise: DJI Mini 5 Pro set for August 7

I will start with the ‘bomb‘ you have all been waiting on. In the past days a lot of my followers on twitter / X guessed the successor of the DJI Mini 4 Pro would come out in September. And I also believed this would be the case, until my friend (he who shall be remain nameless) messaged me he saw proof stating the DJI Mini 5 Pro is set to release on August 7, 2025.

If not delayed, that’s only 7 weeks away so we are pretty excited it’s coming a month early. Sadly other than the date my friend couldn’t tell me anything else yet about the DJI Mini 5 Pro. Luckily for us all some Chinese influencers made some mistakes this week so at least we now have two ‘accidental pictures’ of the upcoming Mini 5:

DJI Mini 5 recent prototype spotted

First of all, last Wednesday Igor Bogdanov showed a picture (above) of a Chinese BETA tester that was spotted with a DJI Mini 5 Pro prototype. On the city tiles we could see the new design of a ‘gapped’ DJI Mini, redesigned to have two extra LiDAR sensors in front. For a better understanding of what your are looking at I will add another close up picture of the Mini 5 below:

Dji Mini 5 Leaks - Release Date August 7

This was actually the first picture of the Mini 5 which already showed us some key elements: The larger camera, the LiDAR inserts on top and larger vented motors. I believe all of these will return in the final design, but without leaked specifications, I won’t be talking about those.

So what’s up with those solid one piece propellers???

What really surprised me on Wednesdays picture where the enormous propeller guards and the solid one-piece propellers. I could not believe DJI would do such a thing on an already heavily modded DJI Mini 4 design. The DJI Flip wasn’t really a success, so why would they add such impractical guards to their most favorite and beloved drone?

But wait, another DJI Mini 5 Pro picture emerged:

While we had a few days of believing the DJI Mini 5 Pro would receive these hideous single-molded propellers, yesterday Mauro Tandoi shared a screenshot of a mountainbiker driving into a Mini 5 in the wild. This image thankfully proves the latest design (without the prototype stickers) has the regular folding propellers and the large (probably vented) motors we have been waiting for to see!

Time to sell your old drones

With the DJI Mini 5 Pro release date set for August 7, 31 July might be the day DJI will tease us with the official DJI Mini 5 Pro teaser. This timeline also matches with and is probably the reason why DJI is already selling DJI Mini 4’s and DJI Mini 3’s with crazy discounts. Guess it’s time to empty their shelves and they will soon announce discontinuing older Mini’s.

That’ll be all for today folks, thanks for reading. Always happy to bring exclusive articles on DroneXL. Follow me here or on X for more on the DJI Osmo Nano, DJI Avata 3, DJI Action 6 and DJI Neo 2. I will inform you as soon as I can! Cheers and have a great weekend, Jasper.
