So recently, iFlight came out with the SkyViz goggles. Analog goggles for FPV pilots, and in 2025, coming out with analog goggles seems interesting. When they asked me whether I wanted to review them, I had to say yes. Because not only is it something new, but it’s actually something very old. It’s new for me since I’ve been flying digital since day one. I’ve had analog systems before, but just for a very little time, and then I switched back to digital, of course. So, I was intrigued to see why they would release analog goggles in 2025, because it seemed interesting. It seemed kind of weird, but I had to check it out myself.
Design and Comparison
So, here we have the goggles. They look very much identical to the Goggles 3 from DJI. As a matter of fact, here I have the Goggles 3 from DJI and the SkyViz goggles right next to them. When you put them side by side, they look very much identical. Both have similar shapes and form factors. Both have those built-in antennas that you cannot replace. Both have similar foam here on the back, although the DJI one is definitely far more comfortable. But this is not bad by any means.
Now, the biggest difference in my opinion, just looking at them from the outside, is the fact that the Goggles 3 have a built-in battery here on the back of the headband. Whereas the SkyViz goggles do not have any battery built in. So, you have to power them on via an XT60 battery. You have this power cable that has this XT60 connection on the end of it. So, you have to plug in an XT60 battery to power on the goggles.
Features
Other than that, the goggles come with a built-in Fusion receiver. They have dual 1080p 100Hz micro OLED screens. You can adjust the diopters. They have cooling fans. Basically, everything you will ever need. Besides that, they come with a customizable LED on the front. So, it’s really up to you to decide which color you want to rock. And I have to say they look really, really cool. Especially in the dark, they look great. Also, the goggles have an SD card slot, obviously, but the position of this SD card slot is kind of weird. It’s right on top of your right eye. So, it’s a little bit weird position for an SD card slot, but it works. And you have auto recording for DVR. So, when you start flying, it will start recording your DVR automatically.
Concerns and Drawbacks
Now, these are great-looking goggles in my opinion, but unfortunately there are quite a lot of different questions that come up when you start using them. And the first of them is the price. Why are they priced so highly, so expensive? Coming in at about $480, these are not cheap. And especially in 2025 when we have so many different possible options and you have digital, spending that amount of money for analog goggles is kind of weird. Also, like I mentioned already, I’m not somebody who’s used a lot of analog goggles before, but from those that I remember, they were quite light. So, these, especially not having a built-in battery, are around 300 grams, and I think they’re a bit heavy for what they are. Maybe the tech inside is making them so heavy, but I just don’t like the fact that they are so heavy even without having a built-in battery. And lastly, since everything is built in, you don’t have the option to change the antennas. You don’t have the option to change the receiver. So, pretty much everything is baked in. And especially when it comes to analog where everything is upgradable and replaceable, this is kind of weird because it kind of resembles what digital goggles are. So for me, this is not exactly the way to go. Especially if you want to upgrade to have something a little bit better, to have better signal or range, you cannot do anything about that with these goggles.
Flight Test Setup and Experience
Here is the setup. We have the SkyViz goggles ready to go and powered on with the blue color on the front. We also have the iFlight Commando 2 controller with ELRS. And we also have the analog version of the Nazgul 5. This is the Nazgul 5 Echo. And this is a very popular drone that people have been loving in the past couple of years. So, this should be flying super well. It’s my first ever flight with it, by the way. So, let’s check it out. Let’s see what we can do with the analog goggles from iFlight. Let’s go. [Music] Okay. Wow.
Flying analog. This is so weird. Right away, I have to say the image is just crap. It’s not good. It’s nothing even remotely close to what I’m used to in terms of flying digital. The drone is great, but it’s just the image is so different from what I’m used to. The breakup is just all over the place. The colors… Yeah. Okay. It’s really easy to crash with this. It’s so weird. Like I have no visibility. At least it feels that way. Maybe for more cinematic, slower type of flying it would be a little bit better. But still, check out how much the green of the trees is switching the hue. It’s like greenish, then it’s yellowish. It’s constantly breaking up. And wow, I’m not even sure what my signal strength is, like how many mills the receiver is set to. I mean, the drone is great, don’t get me wrong, but just the camera is absolutely terrible. I mean, I’ve flown analog before many times, but I don’t remember it to be that bad. It might sound super weird coming from a person who’s been flying FPV for many years now, but I mean this just oh it just sucks.

Honestly, I don’t even know who would get this. I really don’t know who would get this. And the signal is just so bad. Like even going around the trees and I’m getting so much breakup. It’s kind of easy to guess when your signal is getting worse and worse and worse. So, it’s time for you to do something about it. But nevertheless, it’s just so bad. Flying analog in 2025. Unless you’re some type of racer or know you have to fly analog, I don’t know why you would do this to yourself, honestly. And I’m not trying to roast the goggles, but I’m definitely not enjoying the view. Like, my eyes will start hurting soon. That’s so weird, like coming back in time when everything was like this. I know many of the OGs have been through this and are still flying analog and are like analog for life, but not me, bro. I couldn’t bother with this. Really, I really wouldn’t bother with flying analog in 2025. Your eyesight is everything. So, why would you damage your eyesight like voluntarily? There’s so many things that I don’t see. Like, that’s why I’m flying like a 5-year-old. It’s because I don’t see anything. And let’s try to fly just slowly. Wow. I suck at flying. One thing I see now is that I just suck at flying. I don’t see anything, so I’m like super cautious. Oh, yeah. Yeah. I have to not fly behind it. Whoa. >> Telemetry lost. >> Telemetry recovered. >> That’s just so weird.
Honestly, those are my first ever minutes with this analog system and with these goggles. And the goggles themselves are really comfortable. They remind me a lot of the Goggles 3 from DJI. So, they’re good. They’re comfortable. Wow. The foam is nice. The strap on the back, the headband, I mean, is fine. It’s not too tight. It’s fine to make it comfortable for your head. But other than that, not too many positive things to say. Maybe it’s really up to the receiver or to the VTX that the drone uses, of course, but this one is just not it for me. It’s definitely not it. Drone flies great, though. I like it. I like it a lot. It’s just that I feel very limited. Like I know my area here is pretty small. I know I don’t have that much range and I just don’t feel comfortable going around these trees even because I know I’ll lose signal completely. I see it. I see it very well, the fact that I’m not going to have a lot of signal if I… Yeah, the drone is absolutely amazing though. I see why it’s one of iFlight’s most popular models. It’s great. Put another camera on it and it will be great. But I think it’s time to land and to kind of finish my first impressions which were really not ideal with the SkyViz goggles from iFlight.

Conclusion and Final Thoughts
And I’m really not trying to bash on the goggles because they are great. They have great build quality and for what they are, they are great. But I think they don’t match the price that you’re paying for them. Especially considering what quality you’re getting out of them in terms of your flying experience when you’re flying analog. Because as soon as I stopped flying with these, I switched to my HD build with an O3 Air Unit Pro and I ripped this whole place in a totally different way. I’m not saying I’m a good pilot. I’m not saying that what I did was spectacular in any way. I just felt so much more comfortable flying in an area where I can actually see things and everything was just so much smoother. And you know, I shouldn’t need to explain this. It’s just so much better to fly when you’re seeing things and when you have full control over your drone. But with these, I didn’t feel like I had that control. I didn’t feel like I had visibility to see what I’m doing. So, I was flying like I’m flying for the first time. I felt very intimidated and very slow. I lacked any precision and I didn’t really feel like I usually do when I fly. So, I did not really enjoy that experience. Maybe there is something that I can do to improve that. You let me know down in the comments below if you have any suggestions.
Maybe I can improve the VTX on the iFlight Nazgul Echo. Maybe I can change the camera. Maybe I can do something else to kind of enjoy flying with this quad and with this whole system a little bit more because as of right now, it’s really not that enjoyable. I want to specially say thank you to iFlight for providing the Nazgul Echo, the Commando 2, and the SkyViz goggles to have a complete analog system to give it a go. I told them before that I’m not an analog pilot, so my opinion is going to be predetermined even before starting to fly with this system. But I just wanted to try out something new. Hopefully, you are going to appreciate my honesty and the fact that I’m always trying to change things up and try out different systems, different things, different drones, different areas of flying because this is what brings me a lot of joy. And sometimes you have to deal with something that you’re not really a fan of to kind of cement your opinion about a certain topic. My opinion is that I am going to stick with flying digital for sure. With that being said, guys, this is everything I have for you from today’s video. Let me know what you think about the SkyViz goggles down in the comments below. Thank you so much for watching. This is Mike from Drone Supremacy. Never stop flying and I’ll catch you in the next one. Bye.
