Know its limits going in: obstacle sensing is downward-only, so there’s no forward collision avoidance, and 4K caps at 30fps rather than 60. With the FCC Covered List blocking new DJI models from getting the FCC authorization they need to be sold here, the Mini 4K’s window as America’s default first drone won’t stay open forever. Holiday weekend, sub-250 grams, no registration, guards on. Just don’t fly it near the fireworks show. That’s the kind of flight that ends with an FAA civil penalty and your drone on the local news, and the show footage is never worth it.
