DJI Mini 5 Pro Leak Reveals Game-Changing Features Below 250g

A newly leaked promotional image of the DJI Mini 5 Pro has surfaced, suggesting significant technological advancements while maintaining the crucial sub-250-gram weight class. The Spanish-language marketing material, first shared on social media platform X, reveals several noteworthy upgrades including LiDAR sensors and a potential one-inch camera sensor.

DJI Mini 5 Pro Rumored Specs
The most significant upgrade appears to be a possible one-inch camera sensor, a substantial improvement from the Mini 4 Pro’s 1/1.3-inch sensor. The drone features an innovative gimbal design that enables vertical shooting modes specifically optimized for social media content creation. The camera system can seemingly tilt straight upward, a first for the Mini series, dramatically expanding creative possibilities for aerial photographers.
Technical specifications from the leak indicate impressive capabilities: 25-kilometer (15.5-mile) range, 50-minute flight time, advanced LiDAR obstacle avoidance, and audio recording features. The drone incorporates dual front-facing wide-angle sensors complemented by two additional inward-positioned black sensors, presumably for enhanced obstacle detection and navigation.

Design refinements include precision landing sensors and an LED ground illumination system for improved low-light landing capability. The drone maintains the Mini series’ characteristic form factor with two small legs on the main body and additional legs on the front-facing arms, closely resembling the Mini 4 Pro’s design while incorporating these new features.

DJI appears to be focusing heavily on AI-powered tracking capabilities in this new model. This emphasis on Artificial Intelligence, combined with the advanced sensor array and versatile camera movements, suggests a drone designed to operate with greater autonomy and creative flexibility than its predecessors.
The integration of these advanced features while maintaining a sub-250-gram weight represents a significant engineering achievement. This weight class strategically positions the Mini 5 Pro to operate under minimal regulations in many jurisdictions, including the Vereinigte Staaten, making it particularly attractive for both recreational and professional users.
While pricing remains unconfirmed, industry watchers expect the Mini 5 Pro to command a premium over its predecessor when it launches, reportedly in the next few months. The combination of a potential one-inch sensor, vertical shooting capabilities, and advanced AI features suggests DJI is positioning this as their most capable ultralight drone yet, particularly targeting content creators and social media professionals.

It’s great that the minis may be getting a camera upgrade. Now if they add ProRes, this thing will sell like hot cakes. I have a regular 3 and despite no horizontal sensors and a mediocre camera, it’s an amazing little drone. Word to the wise: don’t get a 107 if you don’t need it. Go with a TRUST cert. If you study MORE for the 107, you actually have LESS freedom with recreational flying. Makes zero sense but of course FAA is the government so it makes sense to not make any sense.
Who wrote this? You clearly don’t know much about DJI drones. All of these features are on the mini pro 4 except for the larger sensor.
Sure thing, Gregg. Keep in mind we don’t know all the features yet AND DJI will have to keep it under 250 grams so there literally won’t be much room for a ton of new features.
I can’t see how it’s going to have a 50 minute flight time but if this is true then I will definitely be upgrading from the 4pro, if the flight time remains unchanged then I don’t see any advantage in upgrading, the censor upgrades aren’t enough of a pull for me
Personally, I rarely have a need for obstacle avoidance. I wonder what other features could be added or the cost difference if all of that equipment could be foregone. How much better the camera could be, hundreds of dollars cheaper. All the processing power could be used for ibetter magine processing.
This wee beastie is a phenomenal achievement at under 250g, and DJI are to be congratulated as undisputed world leaders in this field, with a continuing development in technology. Sadly, it will ne beyond my means, unless I win it in a competition. I probably don’t need LIDAR, but obstacle avoidance in low light would be wonderful!
Yes using lidar is exactly what dji needs to be putting in their drones. What better way to get the us to ban them then to remove geo fencing then make drones that make 3d rendered maps of the areas they fly around lol. I think it’d be great as a obstacle avoidance feature but the masses will ultimately believe that they are spying on us by using this feature. 🤦
I love my mini pro 3 and I’m hoping it will be able to keep flying for years to come
Don’t forget the AI on the Marrice 4T. That thing is incredible!
Is there a feature were I can program it to circle an object then get super close followed by backwards then back into a circle around my subject as it elevates up in a circular pattern? Just an idea I had in making a,short video of my subject. I would also like to have my drone go up then down forward and back then shoot towards my subject then a super fast zoom up high in a circular motion?
If you listen closely, you can hear Putin thanking DJI
