DJI Assistant 2 is the desktop half of DJI’s software. It runs on macOS and Windows, talks to the aircraft or remote controller over USB, and handles the jobs the phone app cannot: flashing firmware, exporting flight logs, and running calibration routines.

Most pilots never need it until they do. A firmware update stalls in DJI Fly, an aircraft needs rolling back to a previous version, or a support case asks for flight logs. That is when Assistant 2 comes out.

The detail that catches people is that there is no single version. DJI ships separate builds per product line, and the build you install has to match the series your aircraft belongs to, or the drone simply will not appear in the list. Download it from DJI’s official downloads page under your specific product. DroneXL does not host the installer.

Every firmware release we cover that moves through Assistant 2 lands in the feed below, including the update that added the Fly Safe Database for the Air 2S.

Frequently asked questions

What is DJI Assistant 2 used for?

It is DJI's desktop companion app for macOS and Windows. You connect the aircraft or remote controller over USB and use it to flash firmware, export flight logs, and run calibration routines. Most pilots only open it when something cannot be done from the phone app.

Where do you download DJI Assistant 2?

From DJI's official downloads page, on the product page for your specific aircraft. There is no single universal installer, which is the most common source of confusion: the build listed under one product line will not necessarily recognise an aircraft from another.

Why doesn't DJI Assistant 2 see my drone?

Almost always the wrong build for that product line, a cable that carries power but not data, or an aircraft that is not powered on before it is plugged in. Check the build matches your aircraft's series first, since that is the failure people hit most.
