Now a second delivery agreement has been signed between DDC and DSV Air & Sea to deliver medical supplies by drone to customers from DSV’s warehouses.

For three months in Milton, Ontario, the DDC’s Sparrow cargo drone will be used. The drone will deliver the packages by hovering at a low altitude at the destination and simply dropping the cargo in a designated area. After successfully delivering the package the drone will return to a DSV DroneSpot, according to Electronics 360.

DDC will monitor the drone delivery flights from its control center in Vaughan, Ontario. The flights cover about 2.2 miles will start in the third quarter of this year with possibly more routes being added later.

As part of the first agreement, DDC completed successfully hundreds of flights per month. For the second agreement, critical medical supplies will be delivered by DDC’s Sparrow drones.

During the coronavirus pandemic, we have seen the use of drones increase. Some cases were better perceived by the public than others. Especially, contactless delivery by drone has become very popular and there have been a number of companies starting to implement these services, such as Wing, Zipline, and UPS.
