DJI factory tour: production DJI Mavic 2 shown in leaked video

Earlier today, a newly leaked video appeared on Twitter, showing parts of the production of the DJI Mavic 2 drone. A behind-the-scenes, short, DJI factory tour, if you will.

Update: DJI spokesperson Xie Tiandi, who promised us ‘huge surprises‘ earlier this year, released the video on Weibo, saying:

“For the first time in the 14 years since its establishment, DJI disclosed the actual production and manufacturing of the factory. You can see the highly automated assembly and testing process from the video. In October last year, DJI President Luo Zhenhua disclosed at the “2019 National Quality Benchmark” award ceremony that DJI's factories implemented a self-developed information system DJI Smart Solution to improve the automation and intelligence level of the entire manufacturing process.”

DJI factory tour: production DJI Mavic 2 shown in leaked video

Earlier today, OsitaLV tweeted the following leaked video that shows at least part of the production of the DJI Mavic 2 Zoom drone. The short behind-the-scenes DJI factory tour video is well shot and edited. It seems like the sort of video that DJI would have used in presentations to investors, distributors, and the like.

The DJI factory tour video shows the highly automated assembly of the DJI Mavic 2 Zoom drone as well as a number of tests that these unmanned aircraft undergo before being shipped out.

The video only shows the DJI Mavic 2 Zoom drone and not the DJI Mavic 2 Pro, although we imagine that the assembly of the DJI Mavic 2 Pro would be very similar.

Dji Factory Tour: Production Dji Mavic 2 Shown In Leaked Video 1

In the DJI factory tour video, you can see the drones undergo a number of calibration tests. Towards the end of the assembly line, the drones perform a test flight during which a number of maneuvers are executed.

The production of the DJI Mavic 2 seems highly automated and various robots can be seen at work during the assembly process. Robotic arms from Yaskawa move the drones efficiently through parts of the assembly and calibration process. Later on, in the video we also see an unmanned vehicle move an empty rack through the DJI factory. Also, the name DJI Smart Solutions is prominently shown in the clip.

The video ends with a few shots of what seems to be a large agricultural drone (notice the orange nozzle heads), which might indicate DJI is working on a new model for the agricultural industry.

What do you think of this leaked video and the production process of the DJI Mavic 2 drone? Did we miss anything? What stood out to you? Let us know in the comments below.

The DJI factory tour video is not the first time we have the change to look behind the scenes and see how a drone is assembled. Recently we also got a quick view of the Autel Robotics assembly line.
