Use of drones to assist 911 explored by Manatee County officials – Manatee County in Florida could be breaking new ground for the Drone Industry with a new type of emergency response that involves the use of unmanned aircraft. The county is only a few approvals away from becoming the first county in the nation to use drones to assist 911 during an incident.
Altitude Angel establishes “Drone Zone” for drones and planes – In the United Kingdom, the Thames Valley to the west of London will be the site of what is expected to be the world's first commercial ‘super-highway' drone corridor in open and unrestricted airspace according to plans submitted to the UK's Civil Aviation Authority. Operated and managed by Altitude Angel, the site will be available to support fully automated drone flights beyond visual line-of-sight (BVLOS) from any drone company which completes a series of basic technical integrations which, crucially, don't require specialist hardware on-board the drone.

By using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), Ames Construction can now generate detailed 3D imagery of the pit wall surfaces – a process that would be much more difficult and time-consuming using traditional topographic methods.
Australian government is ‘comfortable' with data security of DJI drones – Over the last couple of years, various U.S. Government officials and lawmakers have expressed concerns about DJI and the data security of DJI drones and possibly stored on DJI servers in China. DJI has always maintained that the drone operator is in charge of the data and can decide to use their DJI drones offline without risk of any data being transmitted overseas. Various studies some of which were paid for by DJI have not shown any evidence of data being transmitted to China. The Australian government recently conducted their own cyber vulnerability review on the usage of DJI drones for their Defense Department and concluded that it was comfortable with using the unmanned aircraft in non-classified situations.
