In the United Kingdom, a drone and a hovercraft were used to save a man who was more than a half-mile out at sea. Thermal cameras on drones can make a crucial difference in the ability to quickly find a person, especially when it is already dark.

In the United Kingdom, the Morecambe Police and the RNLI responded to reports for assistance after a man was seen over a half-mile out at sea.
A drone was used to locate the man in need. He was brought back safely to shore on one of the RNLI hovercraft, according to The Lancashire Telegraph.
A spokesman said: “Last night, with @MorcambePolice and @MorecambeRNLI , the drone team have assisted with the rescue of a male 1km out at sea, who was brought back to safety with Police on the RNLI Hovercraft!”
