DJI FPV drone teardown and overview

In this video, we see a DJI FPV drone teardown. How easy is it to take this fpv drone apart and possibly fix or swap out any damaged parts? Being able to repair your fpv drone is an important part of fpv drone flying as crashes are common and the frame and gimbal are fragile. Let's take a look.

DJI FPV drone teardown and overview

Livyu FPV shows on his Youtube channel how you can take the DJI FPV drone apart. The DJI FPV has been designed very differently compared to the DJI Mavic series.

The is designed to operate at much higher speeds and to endure more frequent crashes. So for instance, the DJI FPV does not have folding arms but instead has very thick and sturdy arms. It also has components, such as the gimbal, that are easier to swap out.

Some of the replacement parts are already available on the DJI website, such as the gimbal and camera, landing gear, propellers, and arm braces. We suspect that more components might be added to the store later on.

As you can see in the video below, it is not that hard to take apart the DJI FPV drone. All you need is a screwdriver and the DJI-supplied Allen or Hex key. However, if repairing your own drone sounds daunting to you, maybe the better option is to use the DJI Care Refresh or DJI Care Refresh+ packages.

The DJI FPV drone is very easy to fly and crashes will be unlikely in Normal or even Sport mode. The drone comes with an emergency brake button that will help you recover the drone from let's say a poorly executed flip or roll. Before you try flying the DJI FPV drone in full manual mode when crashing the drone will be most likely, I would recommend practicing with the DJI simulator to familiarize yourself with how the drone will respond to your input.
