Monday, June 6, Whit Monday, was Castle Day 2022 in The Netherlands. More than 100 castles and country estates opened their gates to the public that day. To get a taste of Dutch history, you can watch this drone footage that showcases a selection of more than 20 of the finest Dutch castles and country estates. The aerial shots were captured by myself, and the video is almost one hour long.
Drone footage shows Castle Line in The Netherlands
The drone footage you see in this video was originally shot in 2017 for a series of videos for the Castles & Country Estates storyline (the ‘Kastelenlijn’) – by the Netherlands Bureau for Tourism & Congresses (NBTC). This was part of a three-year marketing project with the aim of inspiring foreign tourists to discover the other Netherlands and to spread themselves more across the entire country.
For the first time, the drone images have now been brought together in one compilation. The result is a 4K Drone Video of almost an hour in which a number of beautiful castles and country houses can be seen, including Kasteel de Haar, Kasteel Loevestijn, Landgoed Twickel, Huis Bergh, and Muiderslot.
The drone footage is accompanied by a soothing soundtrack. The images were made by Wiebe de Jager from Dronewatch, in collaboration with a team under the direction of All Video Solutions.
More than 700 castles and country estates
The Netherlands has more than 700 castles and country estates, from defensive fortresses to luxurious country houses. Most of these historic houses and gardens were developed and inhabited by 17th and 18th-century merchants and nobility.
