Do you like nature photography? Then the name ‘Ansel Adams’ might mean something to you. This American photographer became famous for his iconic black and white landscape photos of Yosemite National Park. The drone video Mountains Song, the latest creation by filmmaker Vadim Sherbakov, is an ode to Adams’ work.

Black and white drone video

Vadim Sherbakov – also known as Madebyvadim – took, as is often the case, a wild mountain landscape as the starting point for his production. “Mountains of all shapes and sizes are the main subject in this film. Long and short, with clouds and fog as complementary elements.”

The choice of the black and white color palette is not accidental. “I wanted to experiment a bit with post-production and grading. I was inspired by Ansel Adams’ high-contrast black-and-white landscape photos and wanted to create similar images but in motion. Much to my surprise, I found almost no black and white drone videos, so I’m bringing that in with this change.”

Soundtrack

Sherbakov chose a soundtrack by composer Ryan Taubert as musical accompaniment. “Ryan Taubert’s understated atmospheric sound compliments the airy landscape, in my opinion. I hope you enjoy these three minutes of peace in the mountains. The only thing better than mountains is more mountains.”
