Drone Assists Tracy Police in Dramatic Hostage Rescue

Tracy police successfully rescued a woman held at gunpoint and arrested two suspects in a tense operation on Friday. The incident unfolded at a residence on Lankershire Drive, where officers deployed a video-equipped drone to survey the scene and apprehend the alleged kidnappers, reports CBS News.
Suspects Arrested
Two men were taken into custody in connection with the kidnapping:
- Gerado Tornero-Rosales, 26, of Livermore, was accused of kidnapping and assault with a deadly weapon.
- Angel Lopez-Gutierrez, 24, of Oakland, was accused of kidnapping and rape.
Drone Deployment Proves Crucial
Upon receiving information about the hostage situation around 4:45 p.m. on Friday, Tracy police officers swiftly surrounded the residence. They launched a video-equipped drone, which proved instrumental in spotting Tornero-Rosales attempting to flee through the back of the home. Officers promptly arrested him, while Lopez-Gutierrez surrendered at the front of the residence.
The use of the drone allowed police to gain critical situational awareness and coordinate their response effectively, ultimately leading to the safe rescue of the hostage and the apprehension of the suspects.
