Partnership Aims to Revolutionize Emergency Response Times
In a groundbreaking collaboration, BRINC, an American public safety technology developer, has teamed up with Skyfire Consulting (Skyfire), a prominent advisor on drone solutions for security and public safety. The partnership seeks to establish best practices for agencies implementing drone-as-first-responder (DFR) programs across the United States, with the goal of enhancing emergency response by reducing 911 call response times and improving call clearing capabilities.
Comprehensive Support for Agencies
The partnership will provide holistic support for agencies looking to scale their drone initiatives. BRINC and Skyfire will assist agencies in obtaining necessary waivers and clearance, including FAA Certificate of Waiver or Authorization (COA) approval, as well as provide best-in-class training. This comprehensive approach aims to fast-track the development of drone programs for first responders.
Transforming Emergency Response
Drone technology has the potential to revolutionize police and EMS operations in the United States. DFR programs are expected to deliver several key improvements:
- Reducing 911 call response times to less than 70 seconds on average
- Clearing 25% of 911 calls solely with a drone
- Cutting overall human response time to emergencies in half
- Reducing time for first responders to arrive on scene by 54%
Blake Resnick, founder and CEO of BRINC, emphasized the importance of technology in improving first responder operations: “As first responders seek to improve their day-to-day operations, having access to technology that both increases efficiency and officer safety will play a crucial role in their success.”
Expertise and Hands-On Experience
Skyfire’s expertise in public safety unmanned aerial systems (UAS) and its support for law enforcement organizations across all 50 states will be crucial in supporting BRINC’s mission. The company will continue developing its DFR Village, a dedicated testing, training, and demonstration grounds, to provide first responders with hands-on experience using cutting-edge drone systems.
Matt Sloane, founder and CEO of Skyfire, highlighted the potential impact of DFR programs: “Drone-as-first-responder is on course to change the way that first responders keep communities safe in the most profound way since the introduction of the police helicopter.”
The Future of Public Safety
BRINC’s partnership with Skyfire will support future BRINC technology, set to be announced on May 23rd. The collaboration between these two industry leaders aims to set the standard for how DFR programs operate for every agency across the country, enabling law enforcement and EMS workers to act quickly and decisively in the face of emergent events. As drone technology continues to advance, its integration into public safety operations promises to revolutionize emergency response and save countless lives.
