14-Year-Old Boy Hospitalized with Lacerations

A 14-year-old boy was hospitalized on Sunday morning after sustaining injuries from a commercial-style drone he reportedly was operating at the Dania Beach Fishing Pier in Florida. The incident, which occurred around 9:00 a.m., left the teen with multiple lacerations caused by the drone’s propeller blades.

According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO), deputies responded to the scene and found the injured boy. They learned that the teen had been operating the drone when the accident occurred. The boy’s parents were contacted and reportedly cooperated with the deputies during the investigation.

The Dania Beach Fishing Pier has signs clearly stating that drones are prohibited from being operated on the property. Any potential charges or penalties related to the incident would be determined by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), as stated by the BSO.

The injured teen was transported to a local hospital by ambulance to receive treatment for his wounds, which were reported to be non-life-threatening. Cameras captured the moment the boy arrived at the hospital.

This drone incident serves as a reminder of the importance of adhering to local regulations and safety guidelines when operating drones. It also highlights the potential risks associated with the improper use of these devices, especially in public areas where others may be present.

As drone technology continues to advance and become more accessible to the public, it is crucial for operators to familiarize themselves with the rules and regulations surrounding their use to ensure the safety of themselves and others.
