It houses an FAA-designated UAS Test Site at Griffiss International and boasts 35 miles of approved Beyond Visual Line of Sight () airspace. The corridor enables cold weather and wind disruption testing, and integrates a 5G network specifically for UAS Traffic Management development.

The region has received substantial state support, with over $60 million in funding for UAS initiatives.
