BREAKING: DJI MINI 5 PRO Leak Shows C0 Label and reveals secret button
This article contains everything you’ll want to know about the DJI Mini 5 Pro. New and DroneXL-exclusive pre-release photos reveal some exciting new secrets I’ll will go through step by step. Will this Mini 5 be DJI’s best consumer drone ever developed? I actually think it has a good change to become ‘the one’ and these are some reasons why:
A good look at the real thing
Three days ago I was talking to one of my best friends while he casually mentioned he had seen the DJI Mini 5 Pro and fumbled around a bit with it. He said he was amazed to discover the DJI Mini 5 Pro will have the exact same battery as the DJI Mini 4 Pro and therefore even the Mini 3 Pro. Does this mean DJI is finally moving towards a sustainable ecosystem? Because they also seem to finally have settled on the O4 OcuSync system for all their recent drones.

Sub 249 grams confirmed. C0 class sticker spotted.
But lets take good look at that DJI Mini 5 Pro battery. Although my beloved source didn’t spot it at first, my eye immediately fell on the C0 class sticker on the bottom. I admit I had to blink twice to realize the importance of this tiny sticker. This C0 class sticker means DJI managed to get a LiDAR equipped, 1 inch-sensor camera drone beneath 250 grams! Let that sink in, as Elon Musk would say…
Crazy camera on a tiny -no training- consumer drone.
‘So what’ you might say, what is so special about the 1-inch camera? Well, previously if you were in the market for a drone with a 1 inch camera you had to buy the 595 gram DJI Air 3S. That drone was released less a year ago and had a C1 class rating for drones between 250 and 900 grams. With the DJI Mini 5 Pro C0 class on a 1 inch, DJI avoids stricter hassle in their fight with drone regulations now and in the future.
Although we havent received any leaked spec sheet yet, the DJI Mini 5 Pro camera lens reveals a ‘1-inch’ sensor and equivalent of a 24mm lens and a F stop of 1.8 promising great low-light performance and dynamics. The leaked box already promised us these Nightscape functions and a Tele Mode:
- Ultra-Light and Foldable
- 1″ Image Sensor, Up to 4K/120fps Video
- True Vertical Shooting and 225 degree Gimbal Rotation For More Flexible Camera Movements
- High-Quality 48 mm Med-Tele Mode
- Nightscape Omnidirectional Obstacle Sensing with Forward Facing LiDAR
- ActiveTrack for Running, Cycling and More
- 36 Minute Flight Time
Why LiDAR on the Mini 5 Pro? Safety first!
One of the biggest flaws in drone flight is still the ability to crash it. People will hit their RTH buttons and think it will automatically fly back, avoiding power lines and such. This is why DJI has been equipping their drones to the brim with infrared and omnidirectional camera sensors. To avoid that automatic crash, especially in the dark or badly lighted conditions. But DJI managed to get rid off this problem with LiDAR on their drones. The DJI Air 3S and the DJI Mavic 4 are almost impossible to crash and now are even able to return to their home point INSIDE buildings. All thanks to their equipped LiDAR which enables it to basically fly in pitch dark environments. These functions are now promised to come to the DJI Mini 5 Pro.
Gimbal rotates up to max 330 degrees
Did you like the freedom of rotation feature on the DJI Mavic 4? Well, my source promised the gimbal on the DJI Mini 5 Pro will be able to rotate to a max of 330 degrees. Bringing the beloved freedom of creative – in video twist and turns- up to towards 225 degrees even while doing some extreme flight maneuvers.
Unusual silent propellors in new guard
I don’t know if DJI did it to reduce weight, but they finally got rid of those annoying one-time-use propellor screws holding on those one DJI Mini 4 propellors. They now redesigned their DJI Mini 5 Pro motors and propellor setup, making it able to swap out a propellor by a simple tap-and-twist. On a strange note, they also redesigned the big old propellor guard to something that resembles that DJI Flip nobody liked, and if we take a even closer look on those ducted propellors, we can see they also have that ‘low noise tip’. I’ll be amazed if that works to be honest.
Secret button on the DJI Mini 5 Pro
Talking about the DJI Flip… Those who pay close attention might have already noticed a new button on the bottom of the DJI Mini 5. Confirmed rumor has it, the DJI Mini 5 Pro will power on automatically when folded open and with this side-button you will be able to automatically launch it without a controller. Just like we have seen on the DJI Neo and DJI Flip. Making this drone the most versatile drone DJI they have ever brought to the market. (The free world market that is, excluding the United Stated of America, because someone is making that ‘great again’.)
Release date on the Mini 5 Pro
That brings me to the last part of the article: When will the world be able to get their hands on the well equipped DJI Mini 5 Pro? Well, to be honest there is no definite answer. DJI is holding on to ‘September 2025’ and no dates have been given. Earlier hint on August 7 appeared to be wishful thinking on nothing more than another appointment and therefor got postponed to September again.
Personal take and expectations
Thoughts about price and spec sheets? Based on my personal guess the DJI Mini 5 Pro Fly More Combo with a RC2 will costs at around 1200 dollars. Online webshops do not show anything yet on the DJI Mini 5, making me think this launch will turn into a ‘late September party’. If leaked early – like these photo’s – we will have to wait until September for the specification list and more promotion materials.
Until then, thank you for being here with me. I greatly enjoy writing these articles; breaking down drone leaks and rumors. If you have any comments or tips, feel free to contact me on X/JasperEllens. If anything else comes up, like the DJI Neo 2 and DJI Osmo products you know I will update you as soon as possible! Cheers, Jasper

All great stuff and very exciting! Fortunately I travel out of the US enough to buy it somewhere else until we can get DJI back in the states. Great coverage but I do wish I could read anything on the internet without hearing about Trump. You might want to look into the real reason DJI can’t sell in the US. It’s not tariffs, it’s law makers getting their ear bent by lobbyists who are paid by Skydio. It’s been covered and explained extensively.
