DJI Agriculture launched two new spray platforms worldwide on July 1, 2026: the Agras T55, a lighter 50-liter drone built around an upgraded safety stack, and the Agras T100 Dual Battery Spraying System, an endurance-focused revision of the flagship the company shipped last November. Both arrive with the same qualifier DJI has attached to every Agras release for two years now, availability varies by country and region, and buyers are told to contact authorized dealers for pricing.

Here is the detail the wire coverage buries. Both of these platforms have a US paper trail. The Agras T55 cleared FCC equipment authorization on December 19, 2025 (FCC ID SS3-T55A2510), and the base T100 that today’s Dual Battery system builds on holds its own grant (FCC ID SS3-T100A2411). The FCC added foreign-made drones to its Covered List three days later, on December 22. That timing means the core hardware behind both launches sits on the legal side of the cutoff, even as almost every DJI model announced after that date is frozen out. For a US ag operator, that gap between “authorized” and “actually for sale here” is the first thing worth understanding before reading another word about flow rates.

The Agras T55 trades payload for a lighter airframe and a smarter safety system

The T55 is DJI’s attempt to make a 50-liter spray drone that one person can move, set up, and run without a support crew. It carries 50 liters (13.2 gallons) for spraying at a 50 L/min flow rate with mist sprinklers, and handles 55 kg (121 lbs) for spreading at 400 kg/min. A new lift system supports a 40 kg (88 lbs) payload with Auto Balance Control and an Emergency Cable Release, the kind of hardware that tells you DJI expects these drones to haul awkward loads over uneven ground.

The safety story is where the T55 earns its keep. DJI fitted an all-new millimeter-wave radar that pushes point cloud density to 250,000 points per second, and paired it with a quad-vision system: three top-mounted cameras plus a low-light full-color FPV camera covering front, back, left, right, and below. The radar is rated to work through rain and fog, and detected obstacles get logged so the aircraft avoids them on later passes. DJI describes this as the drone getting safer over time, which is a reasonable way to frame persistent obstacle mapping, though the real-world value depends entirely on how consistently the same field gets flown.

One piece of hardware on the spec sheet is easy to overlook and shouldn’t be. The T55 uses an Onboard Battery Heat Sink, a cooling design aimed at keeping performance steady in high heat. Anyone who has watched an ag battery sag in a July field knows thermal management is not a footnote, it is the difference between finishing a block and waiting for cells to cool. This is the same heat sink detail spotted in the teaser silhouette we analyzed last July, now confirmed as a shipping feature.

The T100 Dual Battery buys hover time, not a bigger tank

The Agras T100 Dual Battery Spraying System is a revision, not a new airframe. DJI first brought the T100 to a global audience last July, then showed it at Agritechnica in Hannover in November alongside the T70P and T25P. What the dual-battery setup changes is endurance. DJI claims a 50 percent improvement in hover time at equal payload by running two intelligent batteries, with a 90-liter (23.8-gallon) tank feeding four mist sprinklers at 40 L/min in that configuration.

The single-battery standard configuration keeps the 150-liter (39.6-gallon) spreading capacity at 400 kg/min and an 80 kg (176 lbs) lifting capacity. The dual-atomized centrifugal sprinklers are tuned for faster flight speeds and wider coverage, and DJI is pushing the orchard use case hard: with the optional mist sprinkler set, the company says the atomization can penetrate dense canopies and reach the undersides of leaves on tall trees. That is the job traditional orchard spraying struggles with, and it is a sensible target for a drone that can hover and adjust rather than drive a fixed row.

A note on DJI’s own numbers, because they don’t quite line up. The press release credits “more than 13 years” of research and development, while the T100 product page describes the drone as “twelve years in the making.” Neither figure changes anything for a buyer, but it is worth flagging that DJI’s marketing copy is not internally consistent, and specs measured “in a controlled environment,” as the company’s own disclaimer notes, are not field guarantees.

DJI’s ag fleet keeps scaling while its US access shrinks

Yuan Zhang, Head of Global Sales at DJI Agriculture, put the fleet at more than 600,000 agricultural drones worldwide, treating 300 crop types across more than 100 countries, backed by 3,500 service and repair centers and 7,000 certified instructors. Those numbers are consistent with what DJI reported at the end of 2025, when the ag fleet first crossed 600,000 and the environmental savings figures roughly doubled year over year.

The US sits outside that growth curve. Since the FCC added all foreign-made drones to its Covered List on December 22, 2025, new equipment authorizations for DJI, Autel, and XAG have been blocked. DJI controls roughly 80 percent of the US agricultural spray market, a dependence that turned into a real problem in April when fifteen ag spray drones were stolen in New Jersey and the victims faced a hardware market where American-made replacements from Hylio and Ceres Air run three to five times the cost of the Chinese platforms they replace. When a fleet gets stolen or wears out, the replacement question is no longer trivial.

Against that backdrop, the FCC paperwork is the part US operators should read closely. DJI’s own launch announcement says nothing about US availability, but the underlying hardware for both drones was authorized before the ban. The T55 grant and the T100 grant both predate the December 22 Covered List action, which is why a US authorized dealer like Talos Drones already lists the base T100 as legal to sell, fly, and support in the country. The T55 was authorized alongside the Avata 360, the Lito series, and the RC Mini. Authorization is not the same as a shipped, priced product, and DJI has committed to neither a US release date nor a price for either machine. What the grants establish is narrow but real: the door is open for the base platforms, not bolted shut.

Watch what this launch exposes. DJI just rolled out two spray drones to a global market that will absorb them without friction, and the only interesting question for an American reader is whether either one can legally clear a US field. That is the DJI ban working exactly as its critics predicted. It didn’t stop DJI, whose ag fleet crossed 600,000 units and keeps climbing in Brazil, Europe, and Southeast Asia. It stopped the American farmer, who now reads a product launch the way you’d read a menu from a restaurant that won’t serve you.

I’ve been covering Agras drones for close to a decade, and the pattern is consistent: the hardware gets better, the fleet gets bigger, and the US market gets a little further from the front of the line every quarter. The one genuine bit of good news here is that both the T55 and the base T100 slipped through the FCC with days to spare, so the legal pathway exists. But authorization is not a shipped, priced, dealer-supported product, and DJI hasn’t committed to a US launch for either. The 80 percent of the US spray market that already runs Agras hardware is watching a company build the exact drones they need, clear them through the FCC, and then stay silent on whether Americans can actually buy them.

This is protectionism sold as security, and it lands hardest on the operators it claims to protect. A T55 in a Brazilian coffee field and a stolen Agras fleet in New Jersey that can’t be replaced at any reasonable price are the same policy viewed from two ends. If the FCC Covered List designation gets narrowed in DJI’s Ninth Circuit appeal, the calculus for every US ag operator shifts overnight. Until then, launches like this one are a running tally of what American growers are being locked out of, and the FCC grants sitting under both drones are a reminder that the door isn’t fully shut, just heavily guarded.
