DJI Assistant 2 is the desktop half of owning a DJI drone — the tool for the jobs the DJI Fly app cannot do. Most pilots never open it. Then a firmware update fails mid-way, or an older aircraft needs a compliance retrofit, and it becomes the only tool that matters.
What it actually does. Four jobs, in practice: installing firmware over USB — the channel DJI has used since the Mavic Mini’s first updates and the Mavic Air 2’s; retrofitting regulatory features onto older aircraft, which is how the Phantom 4 Pro got Remote ID; exporting flight logs and data, which connects to DJI’s wider data-protection architecture; and recovering an aircraft that a failed update left half-flashed.
