SharkEye is a new project in Southern California that uses drones and artificial intelligence (AI) to keep beachgoers safe from sharks. Similar to surf reports, SharkEye strives to release a shark report so that swimmers and surfers can assess the level of risk before entering the waters of Southern California.
2020 is apparently the worst year for shark attacks in Australia. More Australians have been killed in unprovoked attacks than in any year since 1934. No wonder that the Australian fisherman in a kayak freaked out when he saw this great white shark. A friend’s drone captures the close encounter as it happened in a video.
A drone spots a Great White Shark off Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia. Bondi Beach is Australia’s most famous beach and is well known for being the great surfing spot that it is. It is less known for shark sightings.
Over the last few years, we’ve seen quite a few videos where swimmers get quite close to sharks and other wildlife, however, this drone video tops them all. You can see the Great White shark checking out a group of surfers in what only can be described as a very close encounter in South Africa.
Check out this video that shows a drone in hot pursuit of a great white shark at Dana Point, Calif. Local photographer and drone pilot Matt Larmand captured this amazing drone footage of a shark off the Capistrano Beach area last week.
