Airmap offices burn down in Santa Monica as protests turn into destruction
Airmap offices burn down as peaceful protests turn into looting and destruction after the countywide 6 p.m. curfew in Santa Monica, California.
Airmap offices burn down
The LA Times reports that the protests decrying the Police killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis were mostly peaceful. However, later in the day, distinct groups started looting and destroying property in downtown Santa Monica.
“Sunday was one of the most distressing days in Santa Monica history,” Santa Monica Mayor Kevin McKeown said in a statement.
One of the businesses that has been affected by the looting and the destruction is Airmap. Just now Airmap's co-founder Greg McNeal tweeted the following message:
I went to the @AirMapIO offices this morning to see things firsthand after looters in Santa Monica set fire to the building yesterday. A lot of memories within those walls. Luckily nobody was hurt. Without WFH, I imagine things may have been much worse.
Fortunately, nobody was injured as a result of the fire. We are very sorry to have learned about this terrible News and hope that Airmap will recover soon.
