Mysterious DJI drone photo shared on Twitter. Possible DJI FPV drone?

A heavily scrambled photo of a mysterious DJI drone was just shared on Twitter by OsitaLV. It is hard to make out exactly what kind of unmanned aircraft this will be but there are some clues. Could this be a new DJI FPV drone?

Update: biggest clue might be that the barely visible prop seems to have three blades, which would make it highly likely to be a new DJI FPV drone.

Mysterious DJI drone photo shared on Twitter. Possible DJI FPV drone?

Let’s start by taking a closer look at what we can see in this scrambled photo of this mysterious DJI drone.

  • The drone has a familiar grey color which seems to be matching the color of the DJI Mavic Mini.
  • There clearly is a DJI logo visible on what seems to the top of the drone.
  • The props on the back legs seem to be mounted facing down.
  • The drone seems to be relatively small. Roughly the size of the Mavic Air 2. Too small to be a Mavic 3 in my opinion.
  • The camera/gimbal part is very different. Might be this? See the patent drawing below. Not sure.
  • The black grooved part on top of the drone could be a heat sink or part of a new antenna?
  • As of 2020, all DJI drones heavier than 250 gram would have ADS-B In… Might be incorporated in that black section?
  • It seems that the legs would be foldable.
  • The drone appears muddied in the photo, which could indicate that this a more high-performance FPV-style drone?

Mysterious DJI drone raises more questions than answers

So, really this photo of a mysterious DJI drone raises more questions than it gives us answers. For now, after having spoken with some other DJI experts, it seems to be a new type of DJI drone. Not the DJI Mavic 3. We suspect that this may be a DJI drone that offers you a new, accessible way of flying. A new DJI FPV drone without it being a full-blown FPV racer. That’s our two cents for now.

One DJI spokesperson said not too long ago that DJI will bring ‘huge surprises to global consumers soon.‘ Could this be it?

DJI FPV camera shows up in patent. Will DJI finally release an FPV drone?

Three blades

The biggest clue could actually be the barely visible prop. It seems to have three blades which would make it highly likely that this is the new DJI FPV drone. October, November release?

  • It certainly looks like an FPV drone. Hopefully they integrate the air unit antennas in a way to protect them from crash damage and disconnection (but also maintain good range).

  • This is a Mavic Air with broken top cover and modified propellers. The black thing on top is the heatsink of CPU.
