Walmart and Zipline partner to deliver medical supplies by drone
Walmart is looking to use its Pea Ridge store as a drone delivery hub to start transporting medical supplies to customers in a partnership with Zipline International. The drone delivery service is scheduled to start in 2021 and the city will be presented with the plans to do so this week.
“They’ve done a lot of research. The noise levels, the flight paths, everything that needs to be paid attention to, they’ve done that. It all goes before our planning commission tomorrow night so we’ll see how that turns out,” Pea Ridge Mayor Jackie Crabtree said, reports KNWA.
The Zipline drones can deliver packages weighing up to 4 pounds over a 50-mile radius, well beyond-visual-line-of-sight.
Walmart and Zipline first announced their partnership in September 2019.
