Icelandic photographer and drone pilot Bjorn Steinbekk captured a particularly impressive natural phenomenon with his brand new DJI FPV drone. In the southwest of Iceland, it just flew over a lava flow from the recently erupted volcano Fagradalsfjall. In the end it even flies close to the fire-breathing crater. “I really thought I would never see my drone again, but man, it was so exciting to capture this !!!”, said Bjorn.

Miraculously, the drone not only survived the extreme heat (lava can reach temperatures of up to 1,250 ° Celsius), it also managed to send its drone past the chunks of magma flying through the air. Steinbekk confirmed to DPReview that the drone survived. “The drone is fine, not a scratch on it. To be honest, I just decided to go full throttle and see what would happen. At worst, I would lose a drone, at best, get these great images.”
The same video maker later posted another video of the active eruption in Iceland. He used an ordinary camera drone for these images. These images are also very impressive.
