DJI Air 2S official announcement – April 15th, 2021

About 15 minutes ago, DJI tweeted out the official announcement of the DJI Air 2S release. Their latest drone and successor to the will be released on April 15th, 2021 at 9:00 am EDT. In an apparent reference to the 1-inch sensor that this drone features, the world's largest drone maker says: “Get Ready for the ONE.” Well, we are ready. Bring it on!

DJI Air 2S official announcement – April 15th, 2021

This will be an online-only release event as has become the norm for DJI since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic last year.

The will be officially released on April 15th, 2021 at 9:00 am EDT.

The most important take-aways of the new DJI Air 2S is that the drone is based on the 2 and shares as far as we can tell many of the same components. As part of their simplified renaming, DJI has decided to drop the name Mavic from this drone, which is an interesting choice. The DJI Air 2S will feature a 1-inch 20MP CMOS sensor that records video up to 5.4K at 30fps. The camera will have a fixed f/2.8 aperture. The drone will have obstacle avoidance in all directions, except sideways so watch out when circling a point of interest. The drone will have a 31 minute flight time and an extended range of up to 7.5 miles. The DJI Air 2S Fly More Combo will sell for $1,299.

Today, DJI announced the official release of the new drone in a tweet, however, due to the great number of leaks, photos, and specs there is little left to be discovered. We expect the DJI Air 2S to quickly become one of DJI's best-selling drone as it rivals, and will likely exceed, the more expensive DJI Mavic 2 Pro.
