Aloft introduces Notify and Fly for B4UFLY

This week, Aloft (formerly known as Kittyhawk) introduces Notify and Fly for B4UFLY on iOS, Android, and the web. This new feature is an easy way to notify other nearby drone pilots that you’re flying in the area by anonymously submitting via the app.

The new Notify and Fly feature in the B4UFLY app allows you to anonymously let other drone pilots in the area know of your presence and drone flying plans.

Both commercial drone pilots and hobbyists can use this new feature in the app to help increase the safe integration of drones in the national airspace, without sacrificing privacy.

Aloft had the following to say about the new Notify and Fly feature:

Our work on B4UFLY over the last two years has informed our thinking into how drone pilots want to engage with the airspace and its many stakeholders. Since we relaunched the app in August of 2019, weโ€™ve powered over 13 million searches of the airspace and now average 800K searches a month. We also see thousands of crowdsourced submissions a month, half of which are users looking to announce their flight intention. And in our initial Web-only test of the Notify & Fly feature, we received over 200 submissions in a limited testing period.

Time and again, weโ€™ve seen a huge unmet need among the vast majority of safety-conscious drone pilots to proactively communicate their intentions on behalf of a safer airspace. Notify & Fly is a major step forward to solving this problem.

To use the new Notify and Fly feature simply update the B4UFLY app on your smartphone. When you go to the main map screen, you’ll notice an icon that says “Notify & Fly.” Choose whether you want to be a commercial operator, a recreational pilot, or a first responder from the drop-down menu that appears after that.
