Wingcopter signs 16M contract with drone delivery company Spright

German drone company, Wingcopter signed a $16M contract with medical flight service provider Spright, which is currently building a health care drone delivery network across the US with more than 300 locations.

Spright signed a purchase agreement with worth $16 million with the aim to meet the demand of drone services in the US.

The Wingcopter fixed-wing drones will be used to deliver medical supplies, vaccines, blood, and lab samples to medical health care institutions across the country in rural areas.

“This multi-million dollar commercial agreement with Spright is clear evidence that the Wingcopter 198 has a perfect product-market fit”, stated Tom Plümmer, CEO and Co-founder of Wingcopter: “The projected compound annual growth rate (CAGR) for the drone delivery market of more than 50 percent to a total volume of nearly $40bn by 2030 underscores the rapid establishments of technology for last-mile logistics. We are excited to be at the forefront of this fast-growing new market with Spright.”

More than 300 medical locations across 48 states will benefit from drone deliveries.

In addition to signing the purchase order, Spright is providing support for Wingcopter to certify its fixed-wing Wingcoper 198 drone with the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

A strategic partnership was announced between both companies back in August 2021.

“We are pleased to have Wingcopter on board as our aircraft technology partner”, declared Spright President Joseph Resnik, adding: “With their leading eVTOL aircraft design, Wingcopter brings the maturity to meet the complex and diverse needs of the US healthcare market. We are confident that our combined strengths will produce innovative, time-saving solutions that meet the needs of our customers and their communities.”

Drone delivery makes the most sense to use in cases where the value of the product is high, there is a high level of urgency, and traditional transportation is slow.
