DJI Avata is finally here and promises the ultimate flight experience
After countless leaks, the world’s largest drone maker, DJI, finally released the DJI Avata and DJI Goggles 2 today. These latest DJI products promise the ultimate, thrilling first-person-view flying experience for everyone.
First-person view (FPV) drone flying is revolutionized by the DJI Avata, enabling any pilot to fly through the air and experience its astounding performance, agility, and simplicity. With the new DJI Goggles 2 and the simple DJI Motion Controller, the DJI Avata offers a previously unheard-of level of flying.
“DJI Avata was built to awaken a desire to fly in everyone, with immersive flight technology that allows anyone to explore the almost out-of-body experience of FPV flight,” said Ferdinand Wolf, Creative Director at DJI. “DJI Avata is breathtaking to fly for even a novice pilot, and it includes enhanced safety features that give anyone the freedom to try creative aerial moves. Paired with the DJI Goggles 2 and the DJI Motion Controller, the DJI Avata seems to ride with the wind. Whether you fly for the fun of it, to make great clips for social media, or to dazzle viewers in the production studio, DJI Avata will show you why its engrossing flight experience pulls you into a new world of soaring possibilities.”
DJI Avata provides new creative avenues for both novices and pros. Its one-of-a-kind and tiny design reduces a standard drone’s chassis to a body engineered for speed and agility, weighing just 410 grams while including aerodynamic propeller guards for additional safety. Its strong stabilized camera, with a 1/1.7″ CMOS sensor and 48 million effective pixels, offers premium imaging capabilities like as 4K/60fps and 2.7K/50/60/100/120fps video, providing producers with a hot new tool for flawlessly shooting quality video content. With a flying length of up to 18 minutes, it can give a powerful thrill trip on every flight.
DJI Avata is intended to be used in conjunction with DJI Goggles 2 – DJI’s most recent flight control technology – and the DJI Motion Controller, which guides the drone based on your hand movement. Users may also use the current DJI FPV Remote Controller 2 and DJI FPV Goggles V2 to operate the drone. The DJI Avata can hover like a typical drone, accelerate like a racer, zoom in and out of small areas, and stop in a fraction of a second thanks to DJI’s unrivaled flying technology. If the DJI Avata is pushed past its limitations and falls upside down, it can flip back up and take flight again thanks to a new Turtle mode.
DJI Avata’s flight control and stabilization technologies
DJI Avata’s flight control and stabilization technologies work together to make it the ideal fun drone, all while shooting colorful, professional-quality video:
DJI Goggles 2: High Resolution and Low-Latency Transmission
The DJI Goggles 2 is a next-generation video headset that offers a smaller, lighter, and more comfortable fit, with a crystal-clear FPV image comparable to those from other DJI drones. DJI Goggles 2 feature a clearer Micro-OLED screen with adjustable diopters, so people who normally wear glasses do not need to use them with the goggles. When used with the DJI Motion Controller, you can control the aircraft and the gimbal camera freely to meet your shooting needs in various scenarios. An intuitive touch panel on the side of the goggles enables you to easily control its settings with only one hand.
DJI Avata and DJI Goggles 2 connect using DJI O3+ transmission, the most powerful and reliable technology for precise control, ultra-low latency, and detailed video at 1080p/100fps with H.265 decoding. It offers the lowest transmission delay of approximately 30 milliseconds, the longest transmission distance of 10 kilometers, auto-switching dual frequencies, a high bitrate of 50 Mbps, and state-of-the-art anti-interference methods to ensure a reliable feed. DJI Goggles 2 also offers a Wireless Streaming function to view the live feed from your mobile phone or computer on the goggles screen, bringing you an immersive viewing experience.
DJI Motion Controller
The DJI Motion Controller is a completely reinvented flight control device that allows the pilot to precisely fly complex maneuvers based on the natural motions of one hand. The system is so intuitive that even complete beginners can get started quickly and learn to fly in continuous fluid motions, even when swooping close to the ground, whizzing past obstacles, and gliding through tight enclosures into open spaces.
Upgraded 4K Imaging System With Super Stabilization
The DJI Avata is distinguished from other FPV racers by a 1/1.7-inch 48MP Photo CMOS sensor with an f/2.8 aperture and an ultra-wide-angle lens with a viewing angle of up to 155°. This sets the DJI Avata apart from other FPV racers. Because of the broader field of vision, immersive aerial photography and videography at up to 4K/60fps are possible, as well as slow-motion film at 2.7K/100fps. DJI Avata’s D-Cinelike color mode provides a vast color palette for extensive chromatic modifications to your creations. With two flagship stabilization technologies, DJI Avata keeps your footage crisp and steady even during high-pressure aerial maneuvers. DJI HorizonSteady maintains the image oriented toward its true level, while DJI RockSteady avoids overall picture shaking. All of the data is saved to 20 GB of internal storage space, giving you more flexibility and spontaneity when the chance for a creative photo occurs, even if you don’t have a microSD card in the onboard drive.
Fly Safe With Confidence
The built-in propeller guards on the DJI Avata make the fuselage more robust and minimize hazards, letting you fly more confidently with a craft that can endure small accidents and even right itself after a flip in Turtle mode.
Pilots can depend on a range of safety measures while flying the DJI Avata, making flying a memorable and safe experience. In all flying modes, an Emergency Brake and Hover option is available to stop the drone and hover in position at any point throughout the flight. Failsafe Return to Home automatically returns the drone to its home location with the push of a button or if the transmission is lost or the battery hits a critically low level.
Despite its tiny size, the DJI Avata incorporates industry-leading safety technologies that DJI pioneered and has kept the world’s skies safe in the drone age. DJI Avata employs DJI’s GEO 2.0 geofencing technology to notify pilots of airspace limitations and possible risks, as well as to automatically prohibit drones from flying near high-risk areas such as airports. DJI Avata also has DJI’s AirSense ADS-B receiver technology, which alerts drone pilots when aircraft or helicopters are close, as well as DJI’s AeroScope signal, which assists authorities in monitoring aerial drones in critical areas. The vast majority of drone pilots fly safely and responsibly, and the high-speed performance of the DJI Avata may need additional attention and care from drone pilots to be aware of their surroundings. Drone pilots using FPV goggles should partner with a visual observer to serve as a spotter, and many jurisdictions require a visual observer to keep an eye out for airspace risks. Always fly safely and responsibly, and be sure to understand and observe all flying regulations.
The DJI Avata has an Infrared Sensing System as well as a two-camera Downward Vision System. They assist the aircraft with maintaining its present location, hovering more accurately, flying inside or in other conditions where satellite navigation is impossible, and identifying regions that are not ideal for landing, such as bodies of water. DJI Avata and DJI Goggles 2 show the Home Point from whence the drone took off to help you stay centered while flying while wearing goggles. This Augmented Reality (AR) viewpoint provides an additional feeling of direction to assist the pilot in quickly locating the nearby area.
An Immersive Flight Experience for Pilots of All Skill Levels
The DJI Avata enables pilots of all skill levels, from beginners to pros, to choose from a variety of flying modes:
Normal (N) Mode: In N mode, the DJI Avata functions similarly to other DJI drones, hovering in place using satellite navigation and/or visual positioning systems (VPS) on the drone’s bottom.
Fly in Manual (M) mode for total, unrestricted control and the full FPV immersive flying experience (only with the DJI FPV Remote Controller 2). Experienced users may tweak the settings and experience flying and filming unlike anything else.
Sport (S) Mode: A new hybrid mode that combines M and N modes, S mode provides some of the dynamic movement capabilities of M mode as well as some of the critical safety aspects of N mode. S mode is the halfway step between the three modes, and it was designed to provide pilots greater freedom to experiment with their abilities as they get acquainted with the drone.
Become an FPV Master With the DJI Virtual Flight App
The DJI Avata is controlled through the DJI Fly App, which contains thorough instructions on how to fly the drone. The DJI Virtual Flight Program is a free simulator app that helps novice pilots get acquainted with drone flying maneuvers in a simple, enjoyable, and risk-free environment. Using the specialized controller, pilots may fly the DJI Avata in a variety of settings.
