Today, DJI officially announced the DJI Mavic 3 Classic camera drone. A less expensive drone from DJI with the MFT Hasselblad camera and all the performance you know and love from the DJI Mavic 3 series.

The Mavic 3 Classic has the same Micro Four Thirds (MFT) CMOS 20-megapixel camera, 46-minute maximum flying duration, and O3+ communication technology as the original Mavic 3, but without the telephoto lens.

The DJI Mavic 3 Classic is compatible with current DJI RC Pro, DJI RC, and DJI RC-N1 models to provide top performance in a more inexpensive configuration, making it simple for drone enthusiasts to upgrade to the best flying camera on the market.

“The Mavic 3 series has always set the standard for what a drone can do, from the original Mavic 3 and Mavic 3 Cine that transformed aerial photography and cinematography, through the Mavic 3 Enterprise and Mavic 3 Thermal platforms for professional work,” said Ferdinand Wolf, Creative Director at DJI. “Now, DJI is moving forward to give more creators access to the photographic excellence and operational reliability that are the hallmarks of the Mavic 3 Series. With the launch of Mavic 3 Classic, we hope to see even more creators putting our top-of-the-line tools to work and pushing their creativity past their old limits.”

The DJI Mavic 3 Classic offers aerial photographers and videographers full access to the capabilities of the Mavic 3 4/3 CMOS Hasselblad camera. The camera can record video at up to 5.1K/50fps, 4K/60fps, and 1080p/60fps utilizing H.264 and H.265 encoders. The DJI Mavic 3 Classic shoots footage at 4K/120fps and 1080p/200fps in slow-motion applications.

The DJI Mavic 3 Classic’s camera has a 24mm equivalent focal length lens with an aperture range of f/2.8 to f/11 and a natural dynamic range of 12.8 stops. When light hits the 20-megapixel sensor, it is processed in 12-bit RAW for photography and 10-bit D-Log for video, allowing the camera to accurately depict hues, peak highlights, and detail-rich shadows.

The DJI Mavic 3 Classic Hasselblad camera is designed to record true-to-life details that match what the human eye sees. The Hasselblad Natural Color Solution produces images and movies with authentic and realistic colors, and its HLG system for high dynamic range photography produces footage that does not need color correction in post-production. A night shot video setting lowers visual noise to enable better photos even in low-light situations such as sunrises and sunsets.

The DJI Mavic 3 Classic will fly for up to 46 minutes and it utilizes the same batteries as the rest of the Mavic 3 Series. The O3+ flight control and video transmission system has a range of up to 10 miles and can show excellent 1080p/60fps video.

The DJI Mavic 3 Classic features clever algorithms and has the ability to follow targets in dramatic flight patterns. The DJI drone has a system called ActiveTrack 5.0 that recognizes subjects, locks them in frame, and moves the drone and camera in unison to produce videos of a professional caliber. To make the creative process quick and easy, MasterShots simplifies both the shooting and editing processes.

In addition to the automatic QuickShots modes, the Mavic 3 Classic provides timelapse, hyperlapse, and panorama shooting modes. Drone operators can concentrate on the imagery and reduce camera shake by using the new Cruise Control feature, which maintains a constant flight speed.

When the DJI Mavic 3 Classic is turned on, the High-Speed QuickTransfer option enables quick image and video downloads directly from the drone to a mobile phone over Wi-Fi 6 at speeds up to 80 MB per second.

To assist pilots in avoiding obstacles and other aircraft, Mavic 3 Classic has a comprehensive set of safety features. The APAS 5.0 system can avoid obstacles and autonomously plan routes around them thanks to its eight visual sensors, which can detect obstacles coming from all directions. By scanning the surroundings from up to 200 meters away, its sophisticated Return To Home system can determine the best route back to its launch point and fly it if necessary.

An AirSense ADS-B receiver is built into the DJI Mavic 3 Classic, alerting drone pilots to nearby airplanes and helicopters that are transmitting ADS-B signals, frequently before the pilot can see or hear those aircraft. With an additional layer of safety for flight operations, DJI’s GEO 2.0 geofencing system informs drone pilots about local airspace restrictions and potential flight hazards.

The DJI Mavic 3 Classic was created with data security in mind, just like all other DJI products. No one is ever required to view a creator’s images, videos, or flight logs unless they choose to do so. During flight, the drone never needs to be connected to the internet, and both its video signals and flight commands are transmitted using encrypted systems. The discretion and protection that sensitive assignments require are provided by DJI’s data privacy systems, even when flying high-profile photo and video assignments.

Mavic 3 Classic is ready for the latest drone regulations around the world. In the United States, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is expected to approve Mavic 3 Classic’s means of compliance with Remote ID rules, as it has done for the other drones in the Mavic 3 Series. In Europe, the full Mavic 3 Series has been issued the world’s first C1 certificate under the new European Drone Regulation, allowing users to fly in the new A1 Open Category without taking a costly remote piloting licensing exam.
