In Eugene, Oregon, multiple police units came together to apprehend Alexander Phillip Konnoff, 30, at his Amirante Street residence on May 17, 2023. At 5:59 p.m., the Eugene Police Street Crimes Unit, SWAT, Drone Team, K9, Crisis Negotiation Team, Metro Explosives Disposal Unit, and Special Investigations Unit executed a warrant.

Numerous complaints about loud noises and Konnoff’s disorderly behavior had been reported to the Eugene Police Department (EPD) by neighborhood residents over time. Konnoff also had two standing warrants for probation violations, which included a felony Parole Violation for a weapons offense.

EPD patrol had visited Konnoff’s home twice the previous week in response to neighbors’ calls, but due to resource limitations, the situation remained unresolved.

The case reportedly was handed to the Street Crimes Unit (SCU) considering the severity of the issue. Given Konnoff’s history of violent interactions, the SCU drafted a multi-disciplinary team to meticulously plan the warrant’s execution, ensuring safety for all involved.

Despite the Crisis Negotiation Team’s attempts, Konnoff refused to leave his residence during the warrant execution. When he barricaded himself in his garage, a SWAT vehicle was employed to open it. K9 Officer Mike Casey, alongside K9 Juice, succeeded in taking Konnoff into custody.

Konnoff remained uncooperative during his medical evaluation but was ultimately cleared for transportation to the Lane County Jail. Despite his resistance during the booking process at the LCJ, Konnoff was successfully lodged.
