Comprehensive Firmware Update

DJI, the world leader in civilian drones and aerial imaging technology, released a new firmware update for its Mavic 3 Pro drone on December 27, 2023.

The update, designated as Aircraft Firmware v01.01.0500, is accompanied by updates for various remote controllers, including the DJI RC Pro (v03.02.0700), DJI RC (v01.03.1000), and DJI RC-N1 (v04.18.0500). The firmware is compatible with DJI Fly App versions v1.12.4 for both iOS and Android.

Enhanced Regulatory Compliance

This firmware update is specifically tailored to comply with China’s upcoming uncrewed aircraft-related regulations, set to take effect on January 1, 2024.

It introduces a crucial feature that allows civil uncrewed aircraft owners to register their drones using real names with the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC).

This addition aims to help drone pilots adhere to local regulation requirements, mitigating security risks and supporting the drone industry’s growth in China.

New Regulatory Landscape in China

The new drone laws in China mandate drone owners to present identification during registration and require drone operators to possess certain qualifications.

The laws also redefine no-fly zones and open airspaces for drones, necessitating application processes for drone-related activities.

Moreover, drone pilots will be obligated to report their estimated take-off time and preparations to air traffic management one hour prior to take-off and await confirmation from the agency.

Emergency Response and Drone Usage

China is enhancing its drone-based emergency response systems. Operators using drones for tasks like anti-terrorism surveillance, emergency rescue, disaster relief, and medical deliveries must apply for approval 30 minutes before scheduled take-off.

Authorities will provide their decision 10 minutes before take-off, ensuring streamlined operations while maintaining safety and regulatory compliance.

Essential Notes For Mavic 3 Pro Firmware Update

Users are reminded that the new features require DJI Fly v1.12.4 or later. Post-update, camera settings will reset, necessitating a check of the settings in DJI Fly.

In case of update failure, users should restart the aircraft, remote controller, and the DJI Fly or DJI Assistant 2 (Consumer Drones Series) apps before reattempting the update.

DJI’s firmware v01.01.0500 for the Mavic 3 Pro is a significant step in aligning with China’s evolving regulatory framework for drones.

It underscores the company’s commitment to legal compliance, safety, and innovation in the burgeoning drone sector.

As drone laws continue to evolve globally, such updates play a crucial role in maintaining operational integrity and legal adherence for drone enthusiasts and professionals alike.
