Drone enthusiasts, researchers, and educators, mark your calendars! DroneCamp 2024 is set to take place at California State University, Monterey Bay from June 24-28. Whether you’re a beginner or have some experience with drones, this event promises to equip you with essential skills for drone mapping and data collection. Can’t make it in person? There’s an online option, too.

A Comprehensive Curriculum for All Levels

DroneCamp is designed to be accessible to everyone, no prior experience needed. The five-day course covers everything from basic flight to advanced data analysis, reports FarmProgress. Topics include:

  • Equipment and safety
  • Drone regulations
  • Flight planning
  • Manual and autonomous drone flight
  • Photogrammetry
  • Data processing and analysis
  • Data management
  • Research discussions

For the first time, 2024 introduces a concurrent track for educators. These sessions will focus on developing drone programs in schools, discussing drone technology, safety, and the remote-pilot code of conduct.

Learn from the Drone Experts

A diverse team of 21 instructors from universities like UC Merced, UC Santa Cruz, CSU Monterey Bay, and others will lead the sessions. They bring a wealth of knowledge and practical experience to help you master drone operations.

Hands-On Experience in the Field

If you attend in person, you’ll get hands-on experience with various drone platforms, engage directly with instructors and peers, and explore the stunning Monterey Bay Area. The registration fee includes light refreshments, daily lunches, and a Monday evening dinner social. However, you’ll need to arrange your own lodging as campus housing isn’t available.

Registration Details

In-person registration closes on June 5 or when capacity is reached. Fees are $1,200 for general participants, $700 for academics and students, and $120 for virtual attendees. To register, visit DroneCamp 2024 Registration.
