According to a recent post on the DJI Forum, DJI has released a new firmware update for their popular Mini 3 drone. The update, released on May 28, 2024, brings several improvements and fixes to the aircraft.

Firmware Details

The new firmware versions are as follows:

  • Aircraft Firmware: v01.00.0500
  • DJI RC-N1 Remote Controller Firmware: v04.16.0500
  • DJI RC Remote Controller Firmware: v01.03.1400
  • DJI Fly App iOS: v1.13.4
  • DJI Fly App Android: v1.13.4

What’s New?

The main highlight of this update is the added support for Remote ID requirements in certain countries and regions. This will help Mini 3 owners comply with local drone regulations more easily. Additionally, the update fixes some known issues to improve the overall user experience.

DJI recommends that if the update fails, users should restart the aircraft, remote controller, and the DJI Fly app or DJI Assistant 2 (Consumer Drones Series) before trying again.

This follows a previous update released on January 25, 2024 which added support for civil uncrewed aircraft owners in China to register their drones with CAAC using their real names, in compliance with Chinese drone regulations. It also enabled automatic activation of US Remote ID when using the drone with an Intelligent Flight Battery Plus.

DroneXL’s Take

It’s great to see DJI continuing to improve the Mini 3 with regular firmware updates. The addition of Remote ID support will be welcomed by many drone pilots who want to ensure they are flying legally in their country or region.

As drone regulations continue to evolve worldwide, it’s important for manufacturers like DJI to stay on top of these changes and provide the necessary updates to keep their products compliant. This commitment to supporting their drones post-launch is one of the reasons DJI remains a leader in the consumer drone market.
