Amazon has cut the DJI Mini 3 with the RC-N1 controller to $315 for Labor Day, $104 under the $419 list price. The listing carries Amazon’s Overall Pick badge, shows more than 1,000 units sold in the past month, and delivers free to Prime members tomorrow.
The same listing offers two other configurations, and neither is worth your money today. The DJI Mini 3 with the screen-equipped DJI RC is $492, down from $549. The Fly More Combo with the DJI RC is $625, down from $719. Both sat far lower in June, and DroneXL logged those prices at the time.
For a first-time pilot, $315 buys a 249-gram aircraft with a 1/1.3-inch sensor, 4K HDR video, and a camera that rotates to shoot vertical natively. It also buys a drone with no obstacle sensors.

The $315 Package Is The Only One Of The Three Worth Buying
The base Mini 3 at $315 is $20 under the $335 DroneXL called the lowest price ever last Black Friday. The DJI RC bundle and the Fly More Combo sit $153 and $176 above the floors they hit in June, so their strikethrough prices measure against list, not this summer.
The price history on the base package runs like this. DJI launched the Mini 3 in December 2022 at $469 with the RC-N1, per Billy Kyle’s review of the drone. List settled at $419. Amazon sold it for $369 in June 2025, then $335 for last year’s Black Friday. In March it dropped to $299 during the Spring Sale. In June, Prime Day took it to $269.
So $315 is not the floor. It is $46 above it, and the lowest price since Prime Day ended on June 26. A fair price on a two-and-a-half-year-old aircraft, not a record.
The other two bundles are where a Labor Day shopper gets fooled. DroneXL’s Prime Day 2026 roundup recorded the DJI Mini 3 with DJI RC at $339. Today it is $492, with Amazon showing 20 units left. The Fly More Combo with DJI RC fell to $449 on June 30. Today it is $625, and a strikethrough from $719 makes that look like a gift. It is $176 more than the same box cost ten weeks ago. If you want the screen or the three-battery kit, wait. If you want the drone, the $315 package is the one.
A 1/1.3-Inch Sensor And Native Vertical Video For Under $320
The Mini 3 shares its airframe and sensor size with the Mini 3 Pro. Its 1/1.3-inch CMOS shoots 4K HDR video at 30 frames per second behind an f/1.7 lens. Stills are 12 megapixels, or 48 in high-resolution mode, and the gimbal rotates 90 degrees for full-sensor portrait video.
That vertical mode is the reason the Mini 3 still sells in 2026. A 9:16 clip comes off the card using the whole sensor, not a crop out of a horizontal frame. The DJI Mini 4K, DJI’s cheaper mini at a $299 list price, has a smaller 1/2.3-inch sensor and no vertical shooting. At $315, the Mini 3 costs $16 more than the Mini 4K’s list price. For anyone who posts to Reels or Shorts, that $16 settles it.
The battery is rated at 38 minutes and O2 transmission at 10 km (6.2 miles). DJI rates wind resistance at Level 5, or 38 kph (24 mph), and top speed at 58 km/h (36 mph). Rafael Suárez flew a Mini 3 as his main work drone for two years and wrote in February that he never felt limited by it.
What the $315 box does not contain is any obstacle sensor. There is no ActiveTrack and no APAS, and the only vision sensors on the aircraft point down, for hover and landing. Billy Kyle put it plainly in 2022: “it would likely crash almost immediately because it can’t see.” The pilot is the collision-avoidance system, and that is the same at $315 as it was at $469.
The RC-N1 in this package has no screen. Your phone clips in on top and runs DJI Fly, and that is the reason this bundle is $177 cheaper than the DJI RC version today.
The Mini 3 Sits Outside Every Open FCC Front
At 249 grams the Mini 3 stays under the FAA’s 250-gram registration threshold for recreational flying, which also exempts it from Remote ID. Part 107 pilots register any aircraft they fly for work regardless of weight, and the Mini 3 broadcasts Remote ID once registered. The caveat is the battery.
DJI’s Intelligent Flight Battery Plus stretches flight time to 51 minutes and pushes the aircraft past 249 grams. Fit one and the recreational exemption is gone: the drone must be registered and Remote ID applies. Amazon’s listing flags the weight change in its own bullet points, and the FAA rule does the rest. The US Fly More Combo ships with three standard batteries, so this only bites if you buy the Plus separately.
On the federal side, this is one of the few DJI aircraft with nothing hanging over it. The Mini 3 received its FCC equipment authorization in 2022, three years before the Commission added all foreign-made drones to the Covered List on December 22, 2025, which is why it can still be imported and sold. The open proceeding, PS Docket 26-189, targets previously authorized drones in seven capability categories, among them LiDAR and thermal imaging. The Mini 3 has none of the seven. Comments closed September 2, and DJI filed asking the FCC to rescind the notice outright. The DJI Mini 5 Pro carries forward-facing LiDAR and is inside that docket. The Mini 3 is not.
DroneXL’s Take
Buy the $315 Mini 3 if you want a first camera drone this month, and do not touch the other two configurations until they come back down. That is the whole recommendation, and the price history makes it for me.
Every retailer will call today’s $315 a Labor Day deal, and it is one. But I logged this drone at $335 last November and called it the lowest ever, and Amazon has gone under that figure at least three times since. DJI has not been able to bring a new consumer drone into the US since December, so the aircraft it already has authorized are what it can sell, and they have been discounted in waves since the Spring Sale in March. Whether Black Friday matches June’s $269 is worth watching. Last year’s stopped at $335, so I would not count on it, and I would not wait three months for a possible $46.
A beginner on a $315 drone with no obstacle avoidance will fly it into a tree at some point, and DJI stripped the sensors out for exactly this price point. I still recommend it, because the tree is the lesson. A Mini 3 that cannot see forces the habit every pilot needs and that ActiveTrack lets you skip: keep the aircraft in sight and bring it home yourself. I would rather a new pilot learn that on a $315 airframe than on a Mini 5 Pro that costs more than twice as much.
The bundle pricing is the part that irritates me. Amazon’s strikethrough shows $719 on a Fly More Combo that sold for $449 ten weeks ago, and a Labor Day shopper who did not read DroneXL in June has no way to know that. The badge is accurate against list and misleading against history, which is why the base package gets the recommendation and the other two do not.
